P Is for Play Layout

I haven't scrapbooked in the last week, so I played along with a few challenges in order to kick start my mojo! I've been hoping to use some of the alphabet themed cards that came in the Childhood PML pack that I bought a while back, but they never seemed to fit my layouts, so I'm glad I was able to use two on this layout.
Recipe:
Chantilly & Noted Backgrounds stamp sets
Splendour, Stardust & Zippidee Level 2 papers
Honey, Moonstruck, Desert Sand & White Daisy cardstock
Honey, Moonstruck, & Goldrush ink
Honey & Moonstruck markers
Childhood Picture My Life cards
Honey triangles washi tape
Yellow grosgrain ribbon (Offray)
Yellow enamel dots (Studio Calico)
Let's Go embellishments (Chic Tags)
Cricut Artbooking cartridge: sun
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: banners, scalloped frame
Pattern: Allison Davis Life Documented Sketch
Challenges: Rochelle Spears April This or That challenge (I used 2 Picture My Life cards); Scrap Our Stash book inspired challenge + use 2 or more clouds (I was inspired by the layered clouds and the yellows and oranges on the book cover. I only had a small scrap of cloud paper in my stash, so I pulled out a stamp I haven't used for a long time and stamped a few clouds); Clear It Out Nature + Greenery challenge (I used leaf/flower/ladybug paper from my stash): Heart 2 Heart "Four" challenge (I thought the four banners on the sketch I used fit the bill perfectly!)

Endeavour Layout

I got a few more photos scrapped this weekend, and I must confess I'm enjoying using my CTMH photo storage pages more than ever before. I've been combining traditional layouts which feature a couple of pictures with the photo storage pages that hold a bunch more photos plus PML style cards that I created myself. For my layout of the space shuttle Endeavour, I played along with this Liftapalooza challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges. I really loved how Ali made the old school torn edges look fresh, so I thought I'd try it myself! I also lifted the paper scraps idea and then scattered embellishments around the page.
For the companion page, I used this sketch from Sketches in Thyme PL Style in order to create the "Explore" card.
The journaling card was a happy accident. I put down the striped paper scrap on the card, thinking I might cut a pennant out of it, and noticed the curved section reminded me of the curve of planet Earth, so I ran with that idea.
And here's the completed page with photos and cards.

Rose Garden Pocket Cards

Yesterday I stumbled across Sketches In Thyme Challenges' sister site, for those who scrapbook using photo pocket pages. The site features sketches that can be used to create cards to fit in these pockets. I have used the Picture My Life cards from Close to My Heart to fill in a few spots here and there for my pocket pages, but I thought it would be fun to try to create my own cards. I used the current sketch and one from February to create my cards. It was interesting to create on such a small scale, but I enjoyed it and will definitely be trying this again!

Used February sketch.

Used current sketch
Here's the finished page. It's a companion to my Lovely Family layout that I posted yesterday.

Lovely Family Layout

I did lots of stamping and fussy cutting for this layout, and I had forgotten how time consuming it is. Having a Cricut has sure spoiled me! This was another layout where I searched my paper stash for something to color match the photos, but ended up just going with something that fit the theme of the page. Still trying to be okay with things not being matchy-matchy! When I scanned the layout, it didn't come out that well because the large pearls prevented the page from lying flat, but hopefully you can still get an idea of what the layout looks like.

Ivy Lane Level 2 papers

Challenges: Heart 2 Heart Birds and Bees challenge (inspired me to add a butterfly to my layout - it's not a bee, but it's an insect and it flies, so hopefully that counts!)

Lego Castle Layout

For my latest layout, featuring pictures from the Lego exhibit at the Discovery Science Center, I drew inspiration from two expired challenges. Just because challenges are over, doesn't mean we can't be inspired by them, right? First, I used a great February sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. Then I was inspired by the Lasting Memories' "And the award goes to . . ." challenge. It helped me give a fun twist to my journaling!

Circus Layout

Today I posted a new sketch over at Splitcoast Stampers, and I actually made a layout to go with it! That hasn't happen much lately, so it was a good feeling. Although I took some liberties with adding extra circles and enlarging my title, I'm sure you can see the bones of the sketch in my layout.  I had taken these photos to a scrapbook retreat last month but ended up not liking the papers I'd chosen for them, so I brought them home to work on. These papers turned out much better than my original choice, and I was able to play with my spray pen and Cuttlebug, which I hadn't brought to at the retreat, so it all worked out fine.

The sketch:

My layout:
Recipe:
Sarita & Brushed Level 2 papers
Gypsy, Cotton Candy & Lagoon cardstock
Gypsy, Cotton Candy & Lagoon ink
Gypsy re-inker & spray pen
Gypsy marker
DE Monograms chipboard
Enamel & Glitter Duos dots
Purple Glitter Gems
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: circles & rings
Cuttlebug folder: D'vine Swirl
Pattern: Splitcoast Stampers Sketch16Apr1
Challenges: Creating with Paper and More April mood board (the springy colors of purple, pink, and blue worked well with my layout); Use Your Stuff pop dot challenge (I popped up several letters in my title)
