Small World Layout

For these four photos of my younger kids' first experience on the Small World ride, I started with a sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap, but adapted it to fit my larger photos. I struggled a bit with the color scheme since the photos were so colorful, but eventually settled on the light blue background to tone down the bright orange in the upper right picture. I also used the bird paper to tie together some of the other colors, while still having the orange dot paper and other orange accents in a nod to the aforementioned photo.

Jennifer's Hand stamp set
O Happy Day papers (Echo Park)
Happy Trails paper (Simple Stories)
Carolina, Lagoon & White Daisy cardstock
Goldrush, Lagoon & Blush ink

Cricut Artiste cartridge: birds
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #241

{Star Wars] Party Layout

I have good memories of this party, even though it was a ton of work to plan. The kids all enjoyed it, so the effort was worth it. When creating the layout, my challenge was to figure out how to embellish it without letting anything hang over the photos, since they actually lift up to reveal more photos underneath. Hopefully, I managed it without making it look too bare!

Zippidee papers
Black & Desert Sand cardstock
Indian Corn Blue, Cranberry, Honey & Desert Sand ink
White gel pen (Sakura)
Red enamel gems
Cranberry grosgrain ribbon

Magical Thrills & Chills Layout

Despite living in Southern California, our family tends to avoid Disneyland because of the high prices and the crowds, but when an out-of-town relative is visiting and wants to go, what can you do? This is the first of several Disney layouts I need to scrap, and they all will have lots of photos, so I was happy to use the January double page sketch as my starting point for this one. I wasn't paying attention and ended up cutting the striped patterned paper so it just matted the photos, so I added a strip of a different patterned papers below, and then another strip of the top paper so that it (hopefully) looks like it's supposed to on the sketch!

The thick acrylic pieces made this layout hard to scan, so IRL the pieces are not all crooked!

Recipe:

Glacier, Lemonade & Candy Apple ink
Black marker
Say Cheese II stickers (Simple Stories)

Family Fun Times 2016 Layout

I knew I wanted to do something special with this photo of me and my younger kids with their bio-brother and his adoptive family, so Sketch 501 from Sketches in Thyme seemed like a great place to begin. However, since I started with a larger photo, by the time I got all the layers added, it seemed too large for the tilt, so I straightened it out. Kinda bummed because I liked the tilt, but a gal's gotta go with what works for her photo, right? I also played along with the Baker's Dozen Challenge over at Scrapbooks.com. Here's the list; can you find where I put everything?

1.Papers that are new to your stash
2. Little heart embellishments
3. Ink spray or splatter

Aqua Cat Layout

Although I can't explain my cat's strange fascination with water, it sure makes for some funny photo ops!

The left side of the layout came out a little dark when I scanned it (the scanner probably didn't like the dimension added by the ribbon), so here’s a close up of the kitty die-cut.

Angel's Epic Ouchie Layout

Scrapbooking helps us celebrate the not so good as well as the great, so here's one of those memories that our family just has to look back upon and laugh so that we don't cry: my son stuck his hand up an operational electric hand dryer just because he was curious about what was up there! He ended up losing most of his fingernail on his middle finger, and we had to keep the cuts bandaged for a few weeks, but the nail fortunately regrew and the cuts healed.

Hitting the Slopes Layout

My first layout of 2022! I was going to pull out some newer items so I could play along with some new-themed challenges, but the products that worked best with my photos were some old papers and stickers.  I finally gave in and went with them. I even used an old sketch, so couldn't even count that.
