September has not been a scrappy month for me, unfortunately. I guess I am still adjusting to having four kids doing distance learning at home, with all the fun challenges that entails! Speaking of challenges, the layout I have slowly been putting together over the past two weeks was inspired by several challenges. First, Double Trouble challenged us to create a scene from anywhere around the world. This fit perfectly with photos from a trip my hubby made to Mission San Luis Obispo, and much of my time this week has been spent finding a good line drawing of the mission that I then imported into Cricut Design Space and edited to create the mission facade. Lots of work but I think it was worth it. Twisted Sister's twist to include a mode of transportation stumped me for a while but then I thought of adding a little donkey (mule?) to my scene to represent a primary mode of transportation in the mission era. Isn't he cute?
And here's a close-up of the mission die-cut:
Recipe:
Friendship Alphabet Small, Universal Backgrounds & Intrinsic Backgrounds stamp sets
Autumn Terracotta, Pacifica, Topiary, Linen, Greg Wool, Almond & White Daisy cardstock
Autumn Terracotta, Topiary, Cocoa & Almond ink
Black marker
Gold Metallix marker
Wooden Arrows
Blue epoxy bubble
Cricut Noah's ABC Animals cartridge: donkey
Cricut New Testament cartridge: cross
Cricut Design Space: mission (based on imported drawing)
Cricut You Are Here cartridge: tree, bush
Pattern: Sketches in Thyme #435 (I used the sketch for both pages but flipped and changed up the right page)
Challenges: The Paper Girls #207 - Around the World; Use Your Stuff #405 - Farm Animals (there was lots of livestock at the mission including sheep and cattle, but I chose to just include the donkey); Heart 2 Heart Wood You Rather? (used wood arrows and stamped a wood grain pattern on the Chocolate cardstock)
Your scrapbook page is fabulous, Cheryl! As always, the layout fits your portrayal of a memorable event. I think the drawing of the mission with the burro is perfect. Thank you for joining us at Double Trouble #65.
