Date Night Layout

When I was planning this layout, I thought I had two photos, the candid one my hubby snapped of our friends with the huge dessert we had just ordered, plus a professional one we purchased from the restaurant photographer. However, when I pulled out the professional one, the date was two years off, so I guess I will be scrapping that in the future! Anyway, I ended up searching out a sketch and using some brand new papers along with some seriously old supplies, and I hope you enjoy what I created.

The photo is actually popped up with foam tape, allowing me to create a pocket for my journaling card:

Recipe:
This Happened & Diverse Backgrounds stamp sets
Newsprint stamp set (SU)
Fresh Paint papers
Kraft & White Daisy cardstock
Capri, Candy Apple, Nectarine & Black ink
Fineliner pen (iBayam)
ShinHan Touch Twin marker
Candy Apple striped ribbon
Black organdy ribbon (from my stash, source unknown)
DE Hearts chipboard
Summer chipboard (DCWV)
Craft buttons (from my stash, source unknown)
Autumn Terracotta embroidery floss
Stargazer and Black & White enamel dots
3-d foam tape
Scalloped border punch (Fiskars)
Mini flower punch (EK Success)
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: tag, flowers
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap 10th Birthday Bash Sketch #1

Challenges: Heart 2 Heart Splatter It (the patterned paper already had some splatter, but I added more using two stamp sets); Color My Heart #497 (I used the Fresh Paint paper collection that includes all the colors, plus I added kraft cardstock, so the only color I didn't include was gold!)

Today Is Treat Day Layout for Lasting Memories

It's the final Sunday for me to be a guest designer for Lasting Memories, and for anyone who has been following this month's challenges, you probably guessed that today's challenge is going to be "something blue." I really had fun figuring out how to interpret each week's challenge of the wedding tradition (something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue). I decided not to go pure monochromatic for this challenge, but I did include lots of blue. There is still time to play along with any of the challenges for this month, so feel free to join us.

Concert at the Forum Layout

At this concert we attended at the Forum, we were not able to take any photos inside of the bands, so this  single photo is all we have to remind ourselves of our experience. Fortunately, it came out nice and clear, and you can see the famous arches and red stripes on the Forum, so it's all good!

Happy Mother's Day 2016 Layout for Lasting Memories

Lasting Memories' third Wedding Tradition-themed challenge this month is "something borrowed," and the idea behind it is quite clever: scraplift a layout created by one of the Lasting Memories design team. I knew I wanted to scrapbook some Mother's Day pictures, so I found something that would fit my photo sizes and also that had a cute design. I did have to adapt it a little, since I had one too many photos. Using foam tape, I popped up my 5" x 5" photo to create a pocket to hold a 4" x 6" photo that I trimmed down and placed on a tag. It also gave me an additional spot to write journaling, so a win all around! Please check out the Lasting Memories Design Team gallery here on Pinterest if you're interested in playing along with this fun challenge.

Here's my layout:

Here's the tag, both front and back:

Bee Birthday Card

I needed to make my hubby a birthday card but didn’t have a clue where to start, so I pulled inspiration from a couple of challenges that helped me decide on the bee theme and the tic tac toe board. I was in the car a lot today, so I used the time to dream about how I wanted the card to look, then I got home and was able to assemble it in an hour! The sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap really helped pull together the elements I wanted to include, and my hubby loved the finished product.

Recipe:
A Game & Happy Birthday stamp sets
Buzz & Bumble papers
Kraft, Goldrush, Almond & Fern cardstock
Goldrush, Cocoa & Fern ink
Gold rush marker
Buzz & Bumble wooden bees
Natural hemp
Green epoxy bubbles
Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder
Cricut Artistry cartridge: banner, honey
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: flowers
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap card sketch #217

Challenges: Cut It Up #251 Any Animal or Insect (bees);  Festive Friday #109 (used flowers + bees + embossing + honey + twine)

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #161 (used the top row across with layers + game + embossing and the left column with layers + bow + floral)

EMS Sketch Challenge 102 + Daddy's Duds Layout

I needed a design for these cute pictures of my kids trying on their dad's suit coat, so I whipped up a sketch featuring two uncropped 4" x 6" photos and lots of banners. This layout actually moved me a little out of my comfort zone with mixed media (used a spray pen and purple ink to mist the base cardstock under the vellum, and painted the wooden hearts white), some stitching (not my forte), and the very restrained color scheme, but I love how it turned out! If you would like to play along with the sketch challenge, feel free to adapt it for your photos, and please post a link to your completed layout in the comments section below.

The sketch:

My layout:

Sweetheart, Snowhaven & Jeepers Creepers papers
Color Kaleidoscope papers (American Crafts)

Black striped grosgrain ribbon

Black embroidery floss
White paint

Cricut Design Space: title using Cooper Black font
Challenges: Color My Heart Color Dare #495 Black and White + 1 color (I chose shades of purple); Scrap With Stacy May Tic Tac Toe (I used the top row across with Stitching + Mixed Media + Two word title and the diagonal with Stitching + ribbon + wood)

W is for Wow Layout

My final Universal Studios layout features a couple of miscellaneous photos that will face a pocket page with more miscellaneous photos. I wasn't sure how to accessorize this page, since I didn't have any Spongebob Squarepants stickers and my color printer wasn't working so I couldn't print out clip art from online, but I finally found a Spongebob SVG file and was able to use it in Cricut Design Space to create a die-cut. There were tons of tiny pieces, so I ended up deleting some of them and using markers to add details, otherwise I think I would have gone blind trying to piece everything together!

And here are a few of the photos for the facing page. They were too fun not to share!

Recipe:
Blue Skies papers & cardstock stickers
Canary, Lagoon, Flamingo & Black cardstock
Green Apple, Candy Apple & Lagoon ink
Fine Liner pens (iBayam)
Childhood PML card
Lagoon washi tape
Heart punch ((EK Success)
Cricut Artiste cartridge: film strip
Cricut Design Space: Spongebob Squarepants using SVG file found online
Challenges: Heart 2 Heart National Scrapbooking Month - create a layout; Use Your Stuff #447 Inspired by Cinema (what could say movies more clearly than Universal Studios?); Double Trouble #109 Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Thing 1 = rainbow colors + Thing 2 = played along with Colorful Options by using rainbow colors + Thing 3 = not sure if this qualifies, but my something make-believe is Spongebob Squarepants)

Back Lot Tour Layout for Lasting Memories

This month, I have the privilege of being a guest designer for Lasting Memories Challenge blog! The monthly theme is wedding inspiration challenges, so here's the first challenge, based on the "Something old" portion of the wedding tradition. First I pulled out an old sketch that I created for Splitcoast Stampers back in 2015 (see below) to go with photos from 2016. All of the products used on my layout are at least a year old, with the oldest being a piece of vellum (in the half circle window) that dates from 2001. Although it's not the oldest item in my stash - I still have some CM stickers and die-cut triangles from back when I started scrapbooking in 1998 - this piece of paper predates my oldest child, so it's pretty old! Check back every Sunday this month to see a new challenge, and hopefully you will play along.

Recipe:
Chantilly stamp set
Central Park papers
Watercolor papers (Recollections)
Paper Pizzazz Pastel Vellum (Hot Off the Press)
Glacier, Mink & Pacifica cardstock
Glacier, Mink, Pacifica & Baby Pink ink
Cobalt Blue fineline pen (iBayam)
Hopscotch PML journaling card
Let's Wander Thickers (American Crafts)
Slice of Life mini puffy stickers (American Crafts)
Petticoats & Pinstripes enamel dots (Echo Park)
Cricut Southwest cartridge: wheel
Cricut Design Space: title using Parade font
Pattern: Splitcoast Stampers Sketch15Jul1

Challenges: Lasting Memories #597 - Something Old; Retro Rubber challenge #181 Tic Tac Toe (I chose the top row across with watercolor {background} & rectangle {photos} & patterned paper, plus I included vellum and a die-cut, and my stamp is the cloud one from 2012)
