Unwrap the Fun Layout

Another birthday party layout, this one featuring the presents my daughter received from her extended family and friends. I used a sketch from Lasting Memories and modified it a little to suit my picture sizes. Heart 2 Heart challenge blog asked us to share our favorite crafting tool, and mine would definitely be sketches! I started with the free-form ones Becky Higgins used to publish in Creating Keepsakes magazine and moved on to the neatly diagrammed ones featured in Jeanette Lynton's pattern books, and then I began creating my own sketches and also discovered several blogs that shared weekly or monthly sketches. Sketches give me a great starting point but also the freedom to switch things around a bit, and I love seeing what other people do with the same sketch. so here's my sketch-inspired layout.
Recipe:
Precious Alphabet stamp set
Craft On and Spring 2020 Mix in papers

Challenges: Double Trouble #62 (Thing 1 - my favorite tool is sketches + Thing 2 - linked up with Heart 2 Heart. Sorry, no elves or gnomes!)

Just Have Fun Layout

I have several layouts to complete for my daughter's birthday, so here is the first one. The colors of her skating outfit and the cake were bright and fun, and they worked perfectly with the Teen Spirit Girl line from Echo Park. I had a bunch of paper scraps that I kept moving around until I was happy with the result, and I also added an additional photo and a journaling card underneath the top photo, which flips up to reveal the extras.

And here's the journaling card:
Recipe:
Teen Spirit Girl Power & Epic Buttons papers (Echo Park)
Gypsy, Crystal Blue & White Daisy cardstock
Gypsy, Crystal Blue & Raspberry ink
Gypsy marker
White gel pen (Sakura)
ShinHan Touch Twin marker
Teen Spirit Girl Frames & Tags and Ephemera die-cuts (Echo Park)
Lagoon baker's twine
Pink ric-rac (Berwick)
3-D foam tape
Cricut Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder
Pattern: Sketches in Thyme #428 (I reversed the sketch so my little girl would not be staring off into space in the vertical photo!)
Challenges: Use Your Stuff #402 Family Fun (this party was a multi family time of fun and celebration)

You Are My Sunshine Layout

I just did a layout featuring my little girl, so here is one giving my little guy some page time. This was a fun yet challenging layout to assemble! I cut out the sunburst pattern on my Cricut and went though my stash of papers to find blue ones in the correct shades, and then I had to trim them to fit in the openings of the Cricut cut. A bit of work, but I like how it turned out.
Recipe:
You & Me (2011), Quotable Words (2019), & Neighborhood (2010) stamp sets
Caboodle, Central Park, Emporium, Jeepers Creepers, Skylark & Twitterpated papers

Eggs*tra Special Hunt Layout

I had started scrapping a different set of photos on these papers, but they just weren't working for me, so I replaced them with these egg hunt photos. Then the search was on for a unique title (didn't want yet another layout titled "Egg Hunt"); this one was lurking in an online list of title suggestions over at Scrapbook.com. I'm not sure when I got the Easter bunny stamps, but I had never used them, so this layout gave me an opportunity to break them out and color them up. Aren't they cute?
I didn't have room to add all the vertical photos I wanted, so both vertical photos lift up to reveal more photos underneath, plus the journaling is under the right hand photo:
Recipe:
Friendship Alphabet Small & Easter Bunny stamp sets
Craft On papers
Carolina, Canary & White Daisy cardstock
Blubird, Carolina, Canary, Pixie, Toffee & Bamboo ink

Resurrection Sunday 2015 Layout

This layout was a bit of a challenge for me! I started with different papers and hated how it looked, so I ripped the photos off and started over. Still not sure I love the result (it's a little plain), but I am thankful the memory is scrapped and in my album. I tried to convey the transition from Good Friday to Easter Sunday by using stars and crosses for Friday and the risen sun and empty tomb for Sunday. Hopefully the idea came across okay.
Recipe:
Craft On patterned paper
Carolina, kraft, Chocolate, Honey, Sweet Leaf, Desert Sand, Clover & White Daisy cardstock
Carolina, Chocolate, Desert Sand & Sweet Leaf ink
Brown marker
White gel pen (Sakura)
ShinHan Touch Twin markers
Color Kaleidoscope puffy stickers (American Crafts)
Opaque Matte texture paste (Ranger)
Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil (Stampers Anonymous)
Cricut Design Space: title using A Child's Year font and basic shapes
Cricut New Testament cartridge: crosses, tomb
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: tab, stars
Cricut Artbooking cartridge: sun
Pattern: scraplift from Scrapbook.com
Challenges: Bitten By the Bug In the Stars AND  The Paper Girls #203 Star & Stripes inspired me to add stars and stripes to my project, even though it's not a July 4th theme); Scrap With Stacy July Tic-Tac-Toe board (I used the row with stencil, journaling, kraft)

Joy of Sets Challenge #19 + Dad Layout

Happy Independence Day to all my fellow Americans! Hope you have a safe and enjoyable celebration with friends and/or family. There's a new challenge board over at Joy of Sets, so feel free to amp up the fun by incorporating a column or row into your crafting! I chose the middle column with paper tearing, sponged ink, and jewels for this layout featuring photos of my dad. I didn't start scrapbooking until I had been married for a while, and my parents had moved out of state by then, so I don't have a ton of photos of my dad to scrapbook. These ones were extra fun because my dad is a retired electrical engineer who worked on several space missions, so he really appreciated the space exhibits we saw at the Science Center.

And here's the board:

Recipe:
Let's Wander paper (American Crafts)
Kraft & White cardstock
Desert Sand ink
Moonstruck marker
Cork Color-Ready alphabet stickers
Field Trip ephemera (American Crafts)
Clear sparkles
Challenges: The Library Challenge #62 (I was inspired by the night sky on the cover, so I added some sparkles to the blue watercolor paper on my layout to create a starry sky)

EMS Sketch 91 + Sunshine & Good Times Layout

Time for another sketch, and this time I was inspired by the Studio Challenges to tilt my main elements! The sketch features three photos cropped down to 4" x 5" and some embellished circles for extra fun. My layout stuck close to the sketch, and it was a joy to scrapbook photos of my parents being silly with their grandkids. Enjoy the sketch, feel free to adapt it as needed, and as always, be sure to post a link in the comments to your completed layout using the sketch.

The sketch:
