Monthly Sketch!

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to use the February sketch and link it to my blog! If you have a beautiful 5"x7" photo (or even two 5" x 3.5"ers) that is begging for its own page, this could be the sketch for you! I've been able to use it twice this month, once as it and once rotated upside down. Click on the sketch in my sidebar to go to the sketch challenge linkup.

SCS Variety Challenge 201 - Supersize Me

Time for another variety challenge for Splitcoast Stampers, and this one may throw you off balance a little! Play along using the link below.

SBVC201 - Daring Diagonals
I’ve gotta confess, most of my scrapbooking marches straight across the page, but I love the look of those tilted pages. For this week’s variety challenge, create a page in which your photo and papers follow a diagonal rather than a horizontal line!

For my layout, I didn't have any patterned papers that quite fit the look I wanted, so I created my own using cardstock and stamps. The french fry box was cut on my Cricut, and it's normally 3-d, but I cut down the sides so it would lay flatter in my album. The journaling is all about the biggest McDonald's my family had ever visited, but we still got to eat our favorite foods!
Recipe:
Alphabet Solos "L" & "M" stamp sets
Bamboo, Cranberry, Honey, Desert Sand & White Daisy cardstock
Cranberry, Honey, Black & Desert Sand ink

Cricut Artiste catridge: french fry box
Cricut Artiste cartrdige: title

Disney Adventure Layout

Splitcoast Stampers is having a Virtual Scrapbooking Night (kind of like an online crop), and the first challenge was to use "one little word" as inspiration for your layout. I chose the word "Adventure" since the pictures were taken at Adventureland at Disney's Magic Kingdom, plus our time in Florida was a bit of an adventure due to all the rain.

Ivy Lane Cards Part 2

Finished up my cards for my Ivy Lane workshop, so I thought I'd share! For the butterfly on the first card, I stamped a butterfly on the cardstock square, then stamped it again on a cardstock scrap, cut it out, and sponged the edges with Desert Sand ink. I adhered it by the body but left the wings free, and then added some Stickles to the body. One cool thing I accomplished by doing it this way: I didn't have to cut out the antenna, since they were already on the cardstock square, so it saved me a lot of time and energy!

Pattern: Sketch 192 from Sunday Sketch and Stamp

For this one, I got the placement of the flowers correct by stamping and cutting out the flower pots, laying them on the tag, and marking a light pencil line across the top of each. I then removed the pots and had a guideline for where to place the flowers!

Ivy Lane Cards

Tonight is my Ivy Lane card workshop, and I'm so excited to use these beautiful papers from the new Close to My Heart idea book! Here are three of the cards I designed. The first one uses sketch 136 from Deconstructed Sketches. Love Jen's sketches!

This card uses Make It From Your Heart Volume 2, pattern 28 from CTMH (slightly modified).

This card is based on a card I made using random scraps left over from another workshop. I just combined some things until I liked the look, and I enjoyed the result so much that I decided to recreate it using Ivy Lane.

Magic Kingdom Layout

I'm catching up on the January Stash Busters challenges over at Splitcoast Stampers, and Lela asked us during week 3 to use the items that come in a kit. Gotta confess, ever since I discovered stamps, I don't really buy kits anymore, so this was very challenging for me. The closest I could come was a paper pack with matching stickers, and then I added some items that color coordinated. Hopefully that counts! I cut the title letters on my Cricut, and they were looking a bit lost on the busy yellow paper, so I added a coat of Liquid Glass to give them shine and dimension.
