Grad 1983 Layout

Two Sundays ago, I scrapbooked my 8th grade school picture, and today I skipped forward to 8th grade graduation. I am fortunate enough to have my childhood diary with an account of the day, so I scanned the page and printed it out to add to my page. Apparently, I had no humility at the time, as I mentioned being the best singer in my quartet and having a high GPA! I kept the color scheme to earth tones, which went well with the rather faded photos. Although it looks white in the photos, my dress was actually light green. I had my layout finished and scanned, then remembered I wanted to add butterflies from my new package, so I had to go back and do that. Anyone ever do this? LOL!

EMS Sketch Challenge 85 + Engine Court Layout

I meant to get this sketch posted last week, but, well, life! Anyway, here is a new sketch featuring a mixture of photo sizes. As you can see, it also lends itself to housing a panoramic picture if you so desire. I made a few modifications to make it work for my photos, and you are welcome to do the same. Don't forget to post a link in the comments section to your completed layout if you use the sketch. I love seeing what others do with my sketches!

EMS Sketch Challenge 83 + Trimming the Tree Layout

A while back, I had pinned a layout sketch to Pinterest, but when I went back to look at it, it was very hard to see (pretty low definition), and the source link was no longer valid. I loved the sketch, so I decided to re-create it so other people can enjoy it, too. It's not an exact copy, but still, big thanks to whoever originally created the sketch! For my layout, I pulled out an old but dearly loved CTMH paper pack called Jingle and used it for the patterned paper sections, including the cute tree border on the bottom. My finishing touch was to add some shine to each ornament: the green one I coated using a Shimmer Brush, on a second one I used silver washi tape, and to the final one I added an outline of sparkles.

The Sketch:

A Classy Christmas Party Layout

Taking a detour from my 2014 photos to scrapbook a layout for my daughter's school album. Heart 2 Heart has a florals challenge on their blog this month, but I didn't have a ton of pictures that went with florals, so I decided to add poinsettias to these Christmas party photos. Plus there are flowers in the patterned paper, so even though it's subtle, this is actually a floral-y page!

Privy Garden Layout

The Privy Garden at Hampton Court Palace was a marvel of meticulous planning! A restoration effort in the 1990s brought it back to something approaching its former state, so I consider myself fortunate to be able to see it now instead of prior to restoration.

And here are the photos and journaling cards for the accompanying pocket page:

Happy Father's Day 2013 Layout

I've been MIA on my blog this past week, but scrapbooking actually has been happening! Here's a layout I finished for another Splitcoast Stampers VSBN challenge. In keeping with the Toy Story theme, this challenge was inspired by the Etch-a-Sketch, so I asked everybody to use a sketch as a starting point for their layout. I love designing sketches, but for this layout, I chose one from Stick It Down challenge blog. The cut out corners didn't seem to work for my pictures, so I switched it to photo corners for a bolder look, and of course I didn't use flowers for Father's Day!

The sketch:

Christmas Photos 2012 Layout

Ever since I got my Cricut, I haven't used my alphabet stamp sets much to create title for my layouts, but this layout design seemed to lend itself to a stamped title. I pulled out my box of alphabet stamps (it felt like a reunion with old friends!) and, after some serious debating, picked the fun and funky Glamour Alphabet set. After stamping the title in Olive ink, I added the stamped brackets in Cranberry for a pop of color. Hope you like!

Stash Busters April Week 4 - Snacks

Another Stash Busters Challenge coming your way! Click on the link below to play!

Stash14Apr4
This month, I am challenging you to use up certain items from your stash and then link your completed layout at Splitcoast Stampers so we can all get excited over it! I'll post a new list each Thursday this month, and you have until April 30th to scrap your layout using the products. If you complete all four layouts, you will get an honorable mention for the month! This week, you have two options to chose from.

For the little girl option, please use:
• 2 patterned papers
• 3 flowers
• 2 ribbons
• A transparency

For the all boy option, please use:
• 2 patterned papers
• 3 brads
• 2 stickers
• A rub-on

I went with the boy option but used lots more brads, stickers, and rub-ons than required. I used my April sketch to create this layout, and it was fun to see it come out completely different from the last time I used the sketch. Don't forget, you have until April 30 to play along with the sketch challenge!

Let's Scrap has a monthly challenge to use up older items from your stash, and I figured I could certainly use a few stash items on this layout. Here's the list:
• 3 patterned papers (my strips are mostly patterned paper)
• 2 colors of cardstock (I used 7)
• ink (lots of ink on my paper edges, plus the title)
• alphabet stickers (didn't have those but I got permission to use what I have, which is stamps)
• photo corners (oldest thing in my stash, dating from 1999!)
• 6 eyelets or brads (eyelets made perfect cannon muzzles for the pirate ship)
• either washi tape, ribbon, or twine (I picked washi tape).
Now head on over to Let's Scrap to check out all their fun challenges!

Shining Like Stars Layout

This has not been a very scrappy month for me, but I decided to ease back into it slowly with this layout from my church's women's retreat from 2011. Our theme was Shining Like Stars, so I used that as my title. I liked the current Let's Scrap sketch and it gave me an idea of how to use the Child's Play Tire Swing challenge; I made the circles on the sketch into black tires. The resulting layout is pretty basic but very shiny!
