Our church has a fun springtime tradition of letting the kids and Sunday school volunteers come to church in their pajamas at the start of daylight savings time, in part to help the parents who have lost an hour of sleep! The old saying of "Spring forward, fall back" inspired my title.

Visitation Layout
As a (former) foster parent, there is so much I could say on the topic of visitation, but I kept it short for this layout featuring my two youngest all ready to leave for visitation with their birth mom. Those days are far behind us now, and all visitation is voluntary, but they were definitely a challenge back when we had to do them!

Snowboarding Layout
I usually avoid papers that feature a large pattern because I have no idea what to do with them, but I couldn't resist this cool paper with a scene of a snowy slope, perfect for scrapping photos of my son snowboarding with his dad. I found a layout on Scrapbook.com that showed a creative way to use the paper, so I ended up pairing it with this awesome snowboarding phrases paper and a little bit of glitter paper to add some bling! A die-cut banner with the title stamped and embossed on it, plus a few fun die-cut pieces completed the scene. Hope you enjoy the finished product.

Sweet Humphrey? Layout
For these photos of my son's hamster Humphrey (named after the one in the Humphrey book series), I included hidden journaling because I wanted to share my true feelings about this horrible pet but didn't want to hurt my son's feelings, but while I was scrapping this, my son came into the room and said, "Oh, is that the hamster that bit my finger?" Guess he wasn't as fond of Humphrey as I thought!
And here's where the journaling card is tucked away:

EMS Sketch 87 + Coachella Valley Preserve Layout
Since I posted a single page sketch at the beginning of March, I thought I would create a double pager for those who need some more space for all those photos you have taken. This features seven uncropped 4" x 6" photos in a variety of orientations, but feel free to move them around or use different sizes if this doesn't work for you. And as always, post a link to your completed layout in the comments section below so I can check out what you have been creating with the sketch!

Legoland Hotel Layout
I haven't felt much like scrapbooking the last few days between the frightening things happening in the world and having to homeschool my kids (also a frightening thing). But today I forced myself to sit at my desk while my kids were busy with school assignments, and I pulled out the brightest papers and stickers I could find that went with my photos, and I got to work. I loved Sketch #112 from Sketches in Thyme (see below), but I had 4 rectangular photos, so I had to adapt it a little to make it work.

Miniland Layout
If you've never been to Miniland at Legoland, you are missing out on a real treat! I love these photos of my kids and a friend enjoying the miniature scenes created by the designers there.
Recipe:
Stargazer papers

Sapphire, Poppy & Canary ink
Black marker

Trinkets Wooden Shapes
Stargazer enamel dots
Black hemp

Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: tag
Pattern: Rochelle Spears March sketch (modified slightly)
Challenges: Scrap With Stacy March Tic-Tac-Toe board (I was going to use the row with epoxy + banner + tag, but I accidentally used enamel instead of epoxy, so I had to add some wood shapes to use banner + wood + die-cut title!)
So excited my hubby was finally able to fix my scanner so the colors on this layout are true to life - yay! |

Best Day Ever @ Legoland Layout
I posted a Legoland intro page a few weeks ago, so here I am to pick up on the other layouts from our fun day. For this layout, I used one of my old sketches and some pastel yellow base cardstock so that the bright colors of the Lego block patterned paper wouldn't be overwhelming. The stickers are actually from a Disney pack, but once you exclude all the mouse-themed ones, a lot of the other ones are multi-purpose. Anyone else ever re-purpose products like that? Gotta confess, it's one of my favorite techniques for using up stash that would otherwise sit on my shelves for years!
Recipe:
Building Blocks papers (Scrapbook Customs)
Canary, Bluebird cardstock
Black marker

Say Cheese III cardstock stickers (Simple Stories)
Cricut Art Philosophy: arrows

Sorry about the off colors of this layout. My scanner is still not working, and taking photos with a camera is just not the same! |

Create Your Own Path Layout
I am pretty sure when you saw the title of this layout, you assumed it was all about being an individualist and not following the crowd, right? I decided to have some fun with a "Create your own path" Thicker I had in my stash, and so I journaled the following under the title: "Except when you're on a ski lift. Then it is probably better just to go wherever it takes you!" Sometime I have to get creative about using up items in my stash that I don't have any pictures for, so hopefully you enjoyed my little misdirection!

Moving on Up Layout
My previous two layouts featured photos from our snow trip to Mt. Baldy, so today I'm going back in time and showing you how we got there - on the ski lift! I also went back in time and snagged an older sketch I created for Splitcoast Stampers, and I used that for the foundation of the design. This was always a favorite sketch of mine because of the tilt (that's something I seldom do), so it was fun to work with it again. My final "back in time" was the stickers and patterned papers I used. The papers have been in my stash since 2007 and the stickers since 2008. so hopefully I was able to give them an updated look on this layout.
Recipe:
Magnolia papers (MME)
Kraft, Fern, Cashmere & White Daisy cardstock
Cranberry, Fern, Cashmere & Cocoa ink
Brown marker (Zig)
Open House Holiday stickers (CM)
Escape the Ordinary & Hello Friend Thickers (American Crafts)
Enamel & Glitter Duos - blue dots
Cricut Design Space: title using Lemon font
Pattern: Splitcoast Stampers Sketch15May1
Challenges: The Paper Girls 1#95 - glitter (I avoided the whole "to glitter or not to glitter" controversy by using enamel dots with glitter inside them - all the sparkle and none of the mess!)
My scanner still isn't working so pardon the uneven lighting in this photo of my layout! |

Joy of Sets Challenge # 15 + In a Winter Wonderland Layout
It's the first Saturday of the month, so that means it's time for the Joy of Sets Tic-Tac-Toe challenge reveal! Not gonna lie, the board this month was pretty challenging for me, but that made it even more rewarding when I came up with some photos that incorporated the right hand column of silver (the snowflakes), weather (snow and fog), and paper piecing (the snowmen). I have some other ideas for the birthday, punch, food column, too, so you may see me posting a second layout based on this challenge later this month. Feel free to play along until the end of the month by choosing any row across, down, or diagonal and sharing your completed project on the link above.
And here's the Joy of Sets board:
Recipe:
All Decked Out stamp set
A Perfect Winter papers (Echo Park)
Snowhaven papers
Crystal Blue, Tulip, Twilight, Black & White Daisy cardstock

Glitter Embossed Snowflake stickers (Recollections)
Holiday Joy rub-ons (Frances Meyer)
Red enamel gems
Aqua enamel dots
Liquid Glass
Cricut Artbooking cartridge: title, snowmen
Pattern: Stick It Down March double page sketch
Challenges: Lasting Memories #487 Patterned Paper (there are actually four different patterned papers on here!); Use Your Stuff #393 Favorite Embellishment (definitely die-cuts for me - here I used two snow men and a die-cut title)
My scanner broke last week, so I had to take a photo of the layout instead of scanning it, and some of the detail got lost. Here's a close-up of the snowmen and the stamped snow flurries. Aren't these little guys cute?

EMS Sketch Challenge 86 + Baby It's Cold Outside Layout
Time for a new sketch challenge! I haven't done a single pager in a while, so I thought I would share one I created for my snowy-day-but-we're-snug-inside-sipping-hot-cocoa layout. The photos can be either full size or slightly trimmed 4" x 6" ones, and if you want more of a heart shape for your overall layout design, you could always center the bottom photo. I added a strip of vellum across the page because my title wasn't showing up very well again the busy papers, so don't be afraid to make modifications to make the sketch work for you. Please post a link in the comments section to your completed layout if you use the sketch. I love seeing what others do with my sketches!
