LA County Fair 2016 Layout

Heart 2 Heart challenge blog had a really fun challenge to include something that moves on your project, and all month I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate something moving onto a layout. I finally figured it out last night when I was working on pictures from the county fair. I had a couple of pictures of my kids on rides, and that inspired me to create a die-cut carousel and make the horses move up and down. It took me a long time but I finally managed it for at least one of the horses. The other one kept getting stuck, so I decided one was good enough - LOL! When you pull on the tab at the top of the page, the horse moves up and down. Thanks to Heart to Heart for inspiring me.

Visit Layout

A simple page I put together for some photos of my kids hanging out with their birth family! I played along with Lasting Memories challenge to step out of my comfort zone and use patterned papers that were different from my usual style. Since I usually avoid working with delicate pastel patterns because they end up looking like Grandma's wallpaper, I challenged myself to try for a vintage look with my papers. Hopefully it worked out!

Go Team Layout

Funny story about this layout: I was planning to scrapbook pictures of my son at camp and wanted to use the single page sketch from Stick It Down but wasn't sure how to do the sunburst. I ended up creating my own file in Cricut Design Space. It took forever because I didn't know what I was doing, and then I didn't want to use my "good paper" to cut it out just in case it didn't work out right. So instead I used it to cut out the sunburst for these photos of our good friends' daughter with her cheer squad. By the time I went through all that effort, I really wanted to just shut my Cricut down and move on, so the camp photos will probably be scrapped using a different sketch, but at least I have a cut file I can use in Design Space now!

Daring Adventure Layout

This layout changed course partway through when I realized the pictures I wanted to scrap really didn't look great on the papers I had already cut out and assembled onto the background cardstock! I instead found other photos that seemed to harmonize a lot better with the papers while still keeping to the outdoorsy theme I wanted, so it all worked out. Here's my layout:

Star Trek Layout

Initially, I wasn't sure where I wanted to go with this layout, so I just kept playing around with it and having fun! Once I figured out my papers, I got pretty creative with the embellishing. The USS Enterprise was cut out in Cricut Design Space using an image I found online, and the insignia was also an online image that I printed out, and then I layered a ton of gold embossing powder over the top before cutting it out. The die-cut/stamped planet and the gold star brads entered the mix last as part of the Festive Friday challenge for World Space Week (see below).

Hedgehog Birthday Card

Upon recently realizing that my stash of birthday cards is seriously depleted, I set out to create at least one card using the wavy scrap pieces from this layout. I was inspired by several challenges (see below) but please, hedgehog owners, do not be inspired to try ballooning at home with your pet - LOL!

Adrian's Sweet Life Layout

Lasting Memories is trying to take us scrapbookers out of our comfort zones this month by asking us to scrap something in a different style than our usual, and one of the challenges involved using a color we dislike or find difficult to use. Because I'm pretty comfortable with most colors of the spectrum, I've been slow to attempt this, but I started thinking about this color Harbour that CTMH came out with last year.

Even though I ordered a couple of sheets of cardstock in Harbour, I could never decide whether it's a blue or green shade and how it should be combined with other colors, so my cardstock sat unused until I forced myself to take it out and put it to work on a layout. I ended up using the lighter side as my background and title letters and the darker side for the wavy strip and the game controller. Although I still can't tell you whether it's green or blue, it's definitely grown on me, so thank you to Lasting Memories for your fun challenge!

Celebrate {La Verne Tradition} Layout

I was curious how many times I have used the word celebrate in the title of a layout, so I did a search on my blog and it turns out I have used it a lot! I've even used it several times on July 4th layouts (big surprise), but I had already committed to using the word on this layout by inking the embossed chipboard in blue ink, so here's yet another "Celebrate" layout from me. Celebrate Good Times Layout

Since this layout displays a random assortment of photos taken in June 2016, I was going to title it something boring like "June Memories," but I decided to play along with Challenge YOUrself and use the song lyrics "Celebrate Good Times" as my title instead. I'm so excited I got to use the llama chipboard piece on a layout featuring an actual llama!

June 4 was the first time my son Elliot had cauliflower, so the journaling space on the right hand page is popped up with foam tape, and there's a pull out tag behind it that records a funny conversation Elliot had with his dad regarding cauliflower.
