I Can Feel It in the Air Layout for Lasting Memories #768

This month at Lasting Memories, Sandy is challenging us to use up some of our stash of patterned papers. The focus of this week's challenge is floral papers. I wanted to get some Christmas layouts done, so I pulled out a collection that had some floral papers, one very subdued with a tone on tone look that I used for my background, and the other more elaborate with lots of blossoms that worked well as an accent piece. Now hopefully you are inspired to hop on over to Lasting Memories and play along with our challenges this month!

Retreat 2018 Layout

These photos brought a smile to my face as I gazed at some cherished women from my old church. I don't see them very often now, but I will always treasure the memories of these lovely ladies and the friendships I developed with them over the years! We always had a blast at our women's retreats, learning about the Lord and spending time together. I included some journaling about the retreat on the tag - it pulls out and I wrote on both sides - and added our theme Bible verse at the bottom.

The Golden One Layout

I purchased some beautiful papers this week that I really wish were around when I was scrapping all my 2017 photos from the Egyptian section of the British Museum. I decided to get them anyway because they are perfect for all the photos we took at the Tutankhamun exhibit at the California Science Center in 2018. Out of all the photos we took (and there were a lot), I chose 85 to scrap, and many of those will end up in pocket pages between two traditionally scrapped pages in my album. There was a time I would have scrapped them all, but life is short and I am running out of space for my albums, so pocket pages without all the added bulk of layers are a good solution.

Here's the collection of papers I just purchased. You can get them at Scrapbook.com or A Cherry on Top, but I don't know how long they will be available, so if you need Egyptian themed papers, it's probably wise to grab them now.

Recipe:
A Typeface & Starter Alphabet stamp sets
Land of Pharaohs papers (Stamperia)
Dutch Blue, Cashmere & Mocha cardstock
Versamark ink
White gel pen (Sakura)
Gold Embossing powder

Cricut You Are Here cartridge: pyramids
Pattern: EMS Sketch Challenge #110

Challenges: Cut It Up #332 Masculine including a die-cut; Crafter's Cafe #320 Masculine; Love Those Pretty Papers Anything Goes (I loved this new paper pack, so even though I covered up the middle of the piece I used, I just had to share it on your challenge!); Little Red Wagon #812 E is for Embossing - I used heat embossing for my title.

Today Was a Good Day Layout

I'm finally getting back to the photos from the beach camping trip my sons and hubby went on with the church youth group, and these are the last ones. Since I am not a lover of sand or the beach, it was much more fun to scrap these summer-themed photos than it would be for me to go to the beach!

Recipe:
You Are Here & It's Your Day stamp sets
Hopscotch papers & PML card
Almond & White Daisy cardstock
Lagoon, Sunset, Flaxen & Honey ink
Ocean marker
Hopscotch sticker
Beach Party rubber shape

Cricut You Are here cartridge: geo-tag, shirt
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #317 - I pieced together the smaller orange and circles patterned paper scraps to make the piece that is orange in the sketch.

Challenges: Little Red Wagon #810 See Through It - I used some Magic Mesh that I had in my stash in two places on my page!

Ready to Get Wrecked Layout

I took a ton of photos of Vacation Bible School at our church in 2018, so prepare to be bombarded by layouts featuring the Shipwrecked theme! The first set I decided to scrapbook two photos of some of the decorations, and I placed the other photos in a photo storage page. My page is actually a lift of an amazing page Lis from Scrapbook.com created. I love how she tore map paper and then tucked all kinds of goodies under the edge, so I tried to replicate that look. Hopefully I did credit to her wonderful design! Looking at the page now, I wish I had moved the title over to the left of the framed photo, but it's glued down already, so I guess it stays.

Mammoth Vacation Layout

This week, I went back and worked on my intro page for our Mammoth vacation. I used some old papers gifted me by a neighbor, and I actually love the pink and brown color combo with some added touches of blue and orange. Hope you like it, too.

On another note, ever since I got a new computer, the very old software I use to stitch together the scans of my layout has not been working well. Somedays, I can get it to work fine, but other days, it tells me I don't have enough memory to do anything! If you have a great suggestion for stitching together scanned halves of layouts, please let me know, because I am getting super frustrated (and don't even get me started on the challenge of putting a double page layout on a 24"x12" canvas)!

On the Slopes {at Mammoth} for Lasting Memories #744

It's time for Lasting Memories' first challenge of April (a little early but I don't imagine anyone will complain!), and this month we will be featuring favorite sketches of the design team. This week, Sandy chose a Scrapbook Generation sketch that features 6 photos, so I decided to scrapbook pictures from a trip to Mammoth my family took in spring 2018. I had to adapt it a tiny bit, but you can still tell I used the sketch. I love how it all came together, and hopefully have inspired you to go check out the challenge - just click on the link above and join us!

Here's my layout:

At the Pier Layout for Lasting Memories #736

It's time for another month of challenges over at Lasting Memories, and this time Design Team member Sandy is asking us to go back to basics. This week's challenge is to create a layout using a grid design, so I decided to go with a irregular grid that would fit the four pictures I wanted to scrap. There are so many options when using a grid, so I hope you are inspired to join in with this challenge!

A Day at the Beach Layout

Happy Independence Day to all you crafty people in the USA! Hope you have a wonderful day with family, celebrating our independence. And now, on to my layout. I went to town with my Cricut on this one, cutting out a bunch of beach and summer themed items to go along with the beach photos I was scrapping. The beach tote ended up being a lot of fun to put together; I popped it up using 3-D foam tape so that I could slide the mini book with my journaling inside it. Took me back to my childhood when I would create miniature books for my Barbies!

Bolt Up! Layout

My hubby is a huge Chargers' fan, so he loves going to their training camp, and in 2017, his brother and his nephew were able to attend along with our youngest son. To scrap these photos, I pulled out some cardstock, stickers, and stamp sets (no patterned paper), plus I used my Cricut to create the curved lightning bolt for the Chargers' logo. I had to watch a tutorial to remember how to do the journaling using my Cricut and pen, but I think it was worth the time it took to figure it out. Although I don't care much for football myself, this layout was a labor of love for my sweetie!

Recipe:

My hubby's birthday is coming up, so I whipped up this card for him today in between the Mother's Day festivities. Good morning, everyone, and a happy Mother's Day to all the hard-working moms out there. Hopefully you can relax and get some "me time" today in addition to spending time enjoying your kids, big and small. I did my scrappy work in advance so I can bring you this post today with the latest Lasting Memories challenge: inspired by a book. As I was going through my list of books I have read this year, the cover of Beach Read by Emily Henry caught my eye and made me decide to scrap beach photos and use the journaling card with the beach towel on it. Whether you're an avid reader or even if the only books you read are to your toddlers, come join us at Lasting Memories for this fun challenge!

Ancient Words Layout for Lasting Memories #696

This month, Lasting Memories Design Team member Brandi is challenging us to use some brand new sketches. I loved this week's sketch, although I don't know that I did it justice. There are only so many embellishments you can add to a layout about stone tablets - LOL! The Polaroid photo part of the sketch was perfect for adding some journaling about each of the tablets, but I can see that on other layouts, it would work equally well to leave these spaces blank. Hopefully you are inspired to check out the design team's creations this week and join us for this or any of the sketch challenges this April!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

Recipe:

Elliot's Ancestor Day Layout

I finished my eldest son's elementary school album last month and decided to keep the momentum going by working on my second son's album this month. Ancestor Day is a 2nd grade tradition at the local elementary school, and it's always interesting for my kids since they were all adopted. We have no contact with Elliot's birth mom (her choice), so he picked my mom as his ancestor to interview and write a report about, which he summarized for the class. Unfortunately, she lives far away so she could not attend the event itself, but we enjoyed hearing about her and eating food from the various countries represented by the ancestors.

Recipe:
Timberline stamp set
Cosmopolitan Collection papers (Making Memories)
Kraft, Chocolate, Capri, Bluebird & Sapphire cardstock

Happy Graduation Layout for Lasting Memories # 688

I'm hosting the challenges over at Lasting Memories this month and chose the theme of "We Go Together" in honor of Valentine's Day. Today's challenge is to create a layout and a card using the same products (or two layouts if cards aren't your thing). I decided to scrapbook a graduation layout and create a congratulations card using pretty much the same supplies, which was handy since I didn't even have to pull any other products out. If you would like to join in on the fun, pop on over to Lasting Memories before the end of the month to enter this or any of our other February challenges!

Here's my layout:

The framed photo is popped up to create a pocket to hold another photo and my journaling card:

And here's my coordinating card:

Recipe:
AP Tags & Happy Everything stamp sets
Color Kaleidoscope paper (American Crafts)
Kraft, Black, Topiary, Canary & White Daisy cardstock Black & Desert Sand ink
Creme Brulee baker's twine
3-D foam tape
Corner rounder
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: scalloped border, scalloped circle, tab
Cricut Artistry cartridge: balloons
Cricut You Are Here cartridge: graduation cap
Cricut Artiste cartridge: title

Pattern for the card: Try a Sketch on Tuesday # 640

Challenges:  Festive Friday #152 - for my layout, I used  twine, interactive (the framed picture is a pocket to hold another photos and my journaling card), people, outdoors, and balloons.
