Lunch Break Layout

I'm still plowing through the photos from Take Your Child to Work Day 2015, so here is another one, this time with photos from the kids' lunch break at a cool place in Malibu. There were multiple photos but I decided to scrapbook just these two of my own kids, while the others will go in a pocket page. The Baker's Dozen challenge over at Scrapbook.com always inspires me to add more stuff to my layout, and this time I had to get really creative to add beads and a shaker element. Since the only beads I had were pretty fat, I cut the sun image multiple times on my Cricut and stacked it until the beads could roll around a little under the vellum. Can you spot where I put all 13 items?

1. Clouds
2. Pocket Card
3. Summer Sun
4. Beads
5. Shaker Element
6. Cork
7. Ribbon
8. Die Cut
9. Paper Tearing
10. Paper Piecing
11. Misting or splatters
12. Brad
13. Stamps

And here are a few of the photos that will go in the pocket page:

My hubby took lots of pictures, so here's one of the first locations they visited.

Do Something Layout

Matthew West has a great song called "Do Something" about not just sitting back and expecting God to solve all the pain and suffering in the world but actually getting involved in others' lives ourselves to help with their problems. It seemed like a perfect fit to use some of the lyrics on this layout featuring photos of my children helping out at our church's food drive. While creating this layout, I was inspired by a few tic tac toe challenges that gave me great ideas of items to add to my layout: the stamped and embossed title, the heart die-cuts, the rhinestone sparkles, etc. Love the finished product and hope you do as well.

The sparkles don't show up too well on my scan, so here's a little detail photo of the lower corner of the layout:

EMS Sketch 92 + Awesome Skating Party Layout

It's August, and I whipped up a new sketch featuring eight 4" x 6" photos. A couple of the photos are cropped, but you could leave them full sized if desired. Enjoy the sketch, feel free to adapt it as needed, and as always, be sure to post a link in the comments to your completed layout using the sketch. I used the sketch for the last of my daughter's birthday party layouts; I had some fun photos of her and the guests skating around the roller rink, some with more success than others! Since I placed an embellishment on the space designated on the sketch for journaling, I decided to create a journaling card and place it in a Flip-Flap. It's under the photo of  my son holding onto the rink wall.

The sketch:

My layout:

The journaling card:

Joy of Sets Challenge #20 + Flip Floppin' Layout

Can you believe August is already here? Despite the craziness of 2020, it seemed to me that it flew by and it's almost time for school to start again. August also brings another Joy of Sets Tic-Tac-Toe grid, this one with a few summery options. I confess, I am not a beach lover - too much sand - but I happened across a photo album I put together in 8th grade, and, since all the photos were falling out, I decided to scrapbook them, starting with these beach pictures. I also found my old diary and printed the text onto a piece of white cardstock that I tucked behind the photos. Gotta admit, I'm a little embarrassed about how boy crazy I apparently was, so hidden journaling seemed the best solution to preserving this memory while keeping a little of my dignity - LOL!

Here's the Joy of Sets grid. I chose the top row with splash, sand, and blue. Come play with us; the challenge is open until August 31!
