Greystone Mansion Layout

The Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA, is a lovely place to visit, although you can only tour the gardens and peek in through the windows, but it has a pretty tragic past include an unsolved murder that was pretty high profile at the time. We took a bunch of photos of the garden and a couple of the interior (as much as we could glimpse of it), so I decided to scrapbook these 7 photos and put the rest in a photo storage page. I wanted to do a cloudy sky background but none of my cloud papers looked right, so I ended up creating my own sky using white cardstock, a brayer, blue ink, and a couple of die-cut clouds that I temporarily adhered using washi tape, then removed once I was done playing - so fun!

1 of a Kind Place Layout

For our birthdays in 2019, my hubby and I took a mini vacation, starting with a trip to the Getty Center. The gardens there are beautiful and unique, so we took a ton of photos, but I decided to scrapbook these ones and put the other ones in a pocket page that will go between the two pages.

EMS Sketch Challenge #129 and Grateful Layout for Lasting Memories #800

Have I ever mentioned how grateful I am all the scrapbookers who enjoy and use my sketches? I love creating them, and this month, I even managed to create two, so here is my latest one. What's cool about this sketch is you could actually use either side as a single page layout! Car Show Layout

I decided a few years ago that I would just make elementary school albums for each of my kids, since there aren't tons of photos from middle and high school, so even though this event was a fundraiser at one of my kid's schools, I think I am going to put it in the family album. What do you all think? Do you seem to have an abundance of school related photos from your kids' younger years, and then it drops off sharply once they finish elementary school? Anyway, I was happy that my order from A Cherry on Top arrived this week so I could use the Carta Bella patterned papers and the Nuvo Drops on this layout, combined with some items that have been in my stash for years. Tower Bridge Exhibit Layout

I was working on my son's school album but decided to take a break to finish a layout from our 2017 London trip, which features photos that are almost as old as the ones from my son's album! I scrapbooked some photos of Tower Bridge itself last year, but these photos are from the exhibit you can see inside the bridge. My civil engineer hubby really enjoyed learning about how the bridge was built and how it originally operated. I even managed to dig out our tickets and added them to the layout.

Christmas Dinner Layout

I'm so close to finishing scrapping all my Christmas 2018 photos, but I don't know that I will manage it by tomorrow, since I still have two layouts to go but have to be at church by 1:15 for choir rehearsal for our Christmas Eve service, plus I need to finish preparing the house for my in-laws' arrival. What's a scrapper to do? And no, staying up all night is not an option if I don't want to be a zombie tomorrow! Oh well, at least this one is done, and the other two will possible get finished on Christmas day and the following Friday, so that will have to be good enough. Just in case I don't get a chance to post again before the big day, I want to wish everyone a very merry Christmas with lots of photo taking opportunities that lead to great scrappy times.

4th Grade Open House for Lasting Memories #777

Is it okay to say I am loving this month's challenges for Lasting Memories, even though I am the one who picked them out? LOL! They are all based on children's picture books, and this week the book is the Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. I love the bright colors on the cover, and my kids always loved the holes in the book, so I used both of those as inspiration (holes are the scalloped borders with holes in them). I also included a butterfly and, since I didn't have a caterpillar, I used a bookworm  instead because it was as close as I could get. Off to School Layout

I've been working on my daughter's school album this week, but since I don't have any more photos printed for her, I switched to my son's album. I'm starting his 5th grade photos, so almost done with elementary school. He's 20 now, so I am a little behind - LOL! Here was first day of school. I had fun making the little composition notebook with his name on it and framing the piece of cork paper with woodgrain paper to create the bulletin board with my first day of school letter on it. I also tried out an ink splat stencil that I had never used before, and I love the slightly messy look it adds to the page, perfect for my ADHD kiddo.

My hubby is not a sit around and chat for hours kinda guy, so when we visited my relatives for Christmas 2018, he talked my nephews and three of my kids into playing a game of football out on the street. My brother lives on a cul-de-sac so there was little traffic, and fortunately no cars were harmed during the game!

The Mission Layout

Today I scrapped some more photos for my son's school album, and it was funny to see what he chose to photograph when he went on a field trip to the San Juan Capistrano Mission. All his photos were horizontal, and he didn't include any people in them, and hardly any exteriors of the mission buildings, but he got a gorgeous photo of the church altar! At any rate, I had fun working with the photos, and even managed to create a little vignette for the bottom left corner of the layout.

Friends {8th Grade} Layout

I'm playing along with a challenge over at A Cherry on Top that requires both black & White and color photos, something I almost never use, but I remembered that my 8th grade photo album that is falling apart has a bunch of mixed photos. Pulling it out, I found exactly what I needed: a bunch of random photos from 8th grade, some color and some black & white! The only common theme that stitches them together is that they feature my school friends, and, even 40 years later, I can still name most of them without looking at the names I carefully printed on the back (in ball point pen, but that's another issue).  I decided not to clutter up the layout by printing all the names on the front, but I will definitely make a list and place it on the back of my layout so I can remember these long ago friends!

It's Sunday, which means another Lasting Memories challenge has started, and it's a really fun one. Lisa gave us a list of paper sizes that we need to include on our layout. I decided to pull out photos from our Mammoth vacation in April 2018; I scrapped the rest of my photos from that vacation, but then was waiting for my Stampin' Up order with the adorable Snowy Scenes papers to arrive. Since my papers were brand new, I didn't just want to randomly cut into them, only to decide I wanted to use them differently, so I created a sketch with the four papers Lisa challenged us to use, and I even extended it into a double pager with a repeat of two of the papers. Feel free to play along with the Lasting Memories challenge, either using the sketch as inspiration, or just getting creative on your own. {Shipwrecked} Imagination Station Layout for Lasting Memories #751

Hello, everyone. It's a happy day here in Southern California because my daughter's softball team won their second playoff game yesterday despite fierce winds and lots of dust in the air! Congrats, Cougars! And that was on top of my daughter receiving the Most Improved Player award at the sports banquet on Friday night, so it's been a good sports weekend for our family.

In other news, Lasting Memories has a new challenge posted, another Tic-Tac-Toe Board, and I got to scrap some more fun memories from Shipwrecked VBS. SVK Layout

I had some cute photos of my daughter in Sunday school at my old church, and I decided to scrapbook them on this bright yellow paper as a reflection of how much fun the kids had in their class! The design is pulled from two old sketches, one of which I had used before (see here) and one I had not. I added a strip of paper all the way across both pages to tie the two together, plus used the Juniper cardstock and patterned paper to form a visual triangle and further unite the pages. Hope it worked!

In case you're wondering, SV was the initials of our church and the K is for kids!

January 2018 Layout

Happy Valentine's Day! Is anyone scrapping today? My hubby and I went to dinner last night because he has to work a super long shift today, so I have extra time to get creative. Something I have been enjoying over the past couple of years is using random pictures from a certain month to create a monthly layout. This one features photos from January 2018, where I didn't have enough photos to make a full layout of an event or the photos weren't good enough quality to merit a separate layout. But I am still glad I scrapped them because they feature people I love!
