Fall Back Fun Layout

Our church does a fun event every time Daylight Saving begins and ends, and I was looking forward to scrapping these photos from Fall 2016, but for some reason the layout never popped for me. I ended up tearing out sections and instead of using a pre-made die cut with two little girls on it, I went old school with tracing paper, a black marker, and my scissor in order to paper piece one of the girls. It worked out great because I could give her dark hair like my daughter instead of the blond of the original. It was more work but I think it was worth it!

Blessed Beyond Measure Layout

For this Thanksgiving layout, I used multiple pieces from the Design and Display kit I’ve been working through. I am not sure how old it is but I would guess at least 15 years, so I figured it was time to start using some of it up! The design of the layout is based on a modified Rochelle Spears sketch. I loved the look of the boxes on her sketch but since my photos were larger, I had to use two smaller boxes with the large one and rearrange a few elements to balance it all out. The journaling spot flips up to reveal a picture of my kids plus more journaling.

Recipe:

L.A. Zoo Dinosaurs Layout 2

Here is the second page of my dinosaurs at the zoo layout. There will be a photo storage page separating the pages so I  didn't feel a need to coordinate with my first layout. I was able to use up the last piece of patterned paper and some foam dinosaur prints from a really old scrapbooking kit - woohoo for stash busting!

L.A. Zoo Dinosaurs Layout

I almost had this layout finished when I remembered that I had a 5" x 7" photo that should have been included, so I had to change course a little, but glad it's finally done! You may notice there isn't a title on this page, which is unusual for me, but it just seemed too crowded to add more on there. What do you scrappy geniuses think? Okay as is, or should I go back and add a title?

EMS Sketch Challenge 105 + Danger Zone Layout

This hamster passed away many years ago, yet he lives on through our photos! I love these shots of him and our cat Thor checking each other out. As I mentioned in my journaling, Humphrey was a mean hamster, but I don't remember Thor getting bitten, so I guess it all turned out okay.

For my layout, I needed a sketch but couldn't find one that was just right for my photos, so I whipped up a new one. Except for swapping out the chevrons for starbursts and using a slightly smaller top photo, I kept pretty much to the sketch for my layout. As always, please leave a link in the comments below if you decide to use the sketch. Happy scrapping!

The sketch:

Pastor John Layout

For this sweet photo of my former pastor with his son and my son, I wanted something that would reflect what a great guy he was, so the Nelson Mandela quote from Time Out Challenges was a perfect fit to express this! Unfortunately, the words "formidable combination" were too big to fit on the banner using my original stamp set, so I had to switch to a smaller one for the final banner. Bummer, but probably a good lesson to plan things out first, right?

My daughter needed to provide snacks for her soccer team, so we baked and decorated cupcakes. The first attempt (a bear pawprint because her team is the Blue Grizzlies) didn't come out well, so we switched to the bear faces. Much better!
