Movie Day Layout for LM #811

Hello, everyone, and happy Sunday. Today is the reveal for the latest challenge over at Lasting Memories, and this time, Jill has challenged us to  create a layout showing our favorite brand or designer. This is always a challenge for me, since I was so loyal to CTMH for many years, but then they went out of business - bummer. I have a few new favorites now, with anything by Vicki Boutin topping the list. Here I used her mixed media paper as my background, then added patterned paper for the frame and the strip across the page. The "with you" puffy sticker is from one of her collections, too. These Wonderful Walls Layout

My goal last month was to finish scrapping the photos from April 29 of our 2017 trip to London, and I almost made it but got distracted at the last moment and didn't end up getting this one done. Oops! Well, I finished it up today with some photos of the interior of the National Gallery, and I am pretty please with how it came out. Since the photos sat on my desk for a couple weeks, I had a chance to realize that the papers I had originally chosen were too busy, so I dug deep into my stash and found some other papers that I paired up with a new butterfly stamp set. I decided not to add any journaling, but hopefully the title speaks for itself.

Globe Theater Layout

Still working on my London album, and I am hoping by the end of the month I will have finished scrapping the photos we took on April 29, 2017. Almost there! Anyway, these photos are from the reconstructed Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, which was built based on any available evidence of what the original building looked like, although they did have to make a few changes because of modern safety requirements. They were performing Romeo and Juliet that evening, but since it looked like it was going to be a modern production and we really would have loved to see Shakespearean costumes in this theatre, we decided not to go. But the tour was fun, at least.

The layout actually has lots of shimmer and shine from the gold leaf paper on top to the shimmer trim and the brown sparkles, but it's hard to see in the scan, so hopefully this photo will give you a better idea of that:

Millennium Bridge Layout

Another layout for my London album, this time showing views of the Millennium Bridge over the River Thames. I was looking for some water or waves paper and found a Simple Stories beach themed paper pack that had just what I was looking for, plus it had some cool geotag/road map type paper that worked well for this layout. My pictures featured pretty drab colors with just a few pops of red, so I used the pink and red cardstock to cheer up the layout.

Everyday London Layout

On the trip my hubby and I took to London in 2017, we saw many beautiful buildings that we did not have time to explore further, but I thought I would put a few of them together on a layout. The buildings paper from American Crafts was perfect for this layout! I also used a London newsprint paper that I had purchased, not realizing that it was all about Hyde Park, a place we never visited despite it being pretty close to our hotel. This seemed like a good opportunity for me to use a large piece of it, since there are photos and embellishments covering a lot of it.

Dog Walk Layout for LM #807

This month at Lasting Memories, Lisa is challenging us to be inspired by the mood boards she created. This week's was difficult for me since I don't have any beachy photos to scrap right now, but I decided to go with the color palette after finding some pictures of my kids walking the dogs. My kids are wearing blue, and the dogs have lots of the tan shades, so I figured I could make it work. Hopefully you agree! I'm Ready for My Close-Up Layout

I love taking pictures of our cats, and they are especially adorable when they are young, so be prepared to see several layouts of our cat Sif when she was a kitten. Just in case you're wondering, we named her Sif because we already had a cat named Thor, and Sif was the wife of Thor in Norse mythology. So now you know! She had a short tail, though we don't know if it was a birth defect or an accident, which is why I mentioned it when pretending to journal from her perspective. The title is lifted from Gloria Swanson's famous line in the movie Sunset Boulevard.

Suzie's Birthday Layout for LM #804

Hello, and happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. I scrapbooked a lot on Saturday because I knew Sunday would be spent with my hubby, so here is one of the layouts I completed. It's also reveal day over at Lasting Memories, so for the current challenge, I created a birthday layout for my friend Suzie's birthday party. I couldn't remember all the details, so the journaling card is blank, but I texted her and hope to fill in some information once she responds. Book of Beasts Layout

The Book of Beasts exhibit at the Getty Center was fascinating, showing us the view that medieval people had of animals like lions or hippos, animals most of the people had never even seen.

General Cornwallis Layout

Back in February, I scrapped the other layout for "Walk Through the American Revolution," a program put on by my son's elementary school, in which my son played the British General Cornwallis, but I never scrapped the photos I took of him at home. I really wanted to use all five photos, but there was a lot of empty space around the figure of my son, so I eventually decided to crop each one to about 2.25" wide so I could line them up across the page. I don't do this very often, but I like how it turned out here, especially with the frame around the center photo. Another layout done for my son's elementary school album, and with only two layouts left to go, I might even complete it by the end of the month!

Buon Compleanno Layout

For my birthday in 2019, we threw a party for some friends at a local restaurant that has been a favorite of ours since my hubby and I were in college together. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to get many good photos due to the low lighting levels in the place, so I decided to just scrap these two of me with the complimentary spumoni ice cream our waitress presented to me. She said, "Buon Compleanno!" as she gave it to me, which is Italian for happy birthday, so I decided to use that for my title.

I'm not super vain but vain enough that I decided to cover over what birthday this was!

Remember 5th Grade Layout

I am nearing the completion of my son's elementary school album and needed to scrap this open house layout, but I was so tired of thinking of creative titles for open house. Can anyone relate? Then I noticed his teacher had written him a little notice that said she will always remember him, so that inspired me to cut out the "remember" using my Cricut and an ACOT cutfile. Stamping "5th Grade" and adding some school-themed ephemera were the finishing touches.

EMS Sketch Challenge #129 and Grateful Layout for Lasting Memories #800

Have I ever mentioned how grateful I am all the scrapbookers who enjoy and use my sketches? I love creating them, and this month, I even managed to create two, so here is my latest one. What's cool about this sketch is you could actually use either side as a single page layout! Incredible Memories {Mother's Day 2019} Layout

One of the benefits of being so far behind on my scrapping is that I get to revisit photos that were taken when my kids were little, like this Mother's Day celebration in 2019. These feel extra precious because of what the next two Mother's Days would hold: the Covid pandemic of 2020 and the death of my youngest son the week before Mother's Day in 2021. As I was looking on Facebook for what I posted in 2019, I found the story about my middle son, who was going through a very difficult phase at the time, getting out of his sickbed to cut a rose from the garden for me, thus the Star wars themed quote I included. (I know the actual words Luke Skywalker said were slightly different, but I decided to use what I wrote on Facebook). No matter how difficult parenting gets, I have learned to treasure the sweet moments like these.

It's Sunday again, and that means that Maureen over at Lasting Memories has another fun tic tac toe board for us to play along with. I love this one because it's very versatile, with some squares being very feminine and others more neutral or even rustic! I chose to go with the middle row across for my layout: strips of paper + squares + twine.
