Birthday Boy Layout for Lasting Memories #735

Greetings and happy Sunday. It's challenge time over at Lasting Memories, and this is the last challenge for January. Hopefully you have had a chance to join us, but if not, this may inspire you to dig out some photos and get scrapping. We are getting deliberate about our designs, so I asked everyone to focus on their finishes by adding three groups of embellishments. I added a large group in the upper left corner on my journaling card, a medium cluster with my balloons and the sentiment over to the right, and a tiny grouping with the ribbon and metal tag.

H Is For Happy Layout for Lasting Memories #674

It's time for our last October challenge over at Lasting Memories, and  Maureen challenged us to create a Celebration themed layout (Christmas, New Years, Easter, or Birthday), so I grabbed some photos from my son's birthday party at Scandia - a local amusement park - and pulled together this layout. The month is almost over, so please hurry over to Lasting Memories to play along with this or any of our other October challenge!

This layout will have a facing photo storage page, so here are a few of the other fun things the kids did!

Hip Hip Hooray Layout

For my son's pug themed 10th birthday party, I created paw print cupcakes and made blue jello to represent water bowls. My first attempt at the cupcakes was an epic fail (unfortunately I don't have a picture of it), but after much experimentation, I came up with a look that worked. I dug deep into my stash for the supplies for this layout. Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog is celebrating their tenth anniversary, so I looked back at their first challenge, which required using the CTMH colors Sweet Leaf, Chocolate, and Sunflower, and pulled paper and ribbon out that featured those colors. Happy anniversary, Heart 2 Heart!

For Always Thanks Card

Here's another For Always card, this time using the design from the Workshop on the Go cardmaking kit. I modified it slightly and used supplies I had on hand. To create the polka-dotted squares, I used the center of the balloon from the birthday stamp set that came with my Cricut Artiste collection. It was just big enough to cover the whole square!

Moonlight Card 5

One more Moonlight card, and my workshop prep is almost done - woohoo! This card was a happy accident. I had tried using the pennant on another card, and it wasn't working. As I put it down on my desk, it ended up on top of a black scrap of cardstock and the green banner piece. I looked at it and decided to run with it.  Love it when that happens. The card background is actually a collage of stamps from different sets that I assembled on a block.

I have been trying to create a card with just black and orange all week so that I could play along with the Dynamic Duos color challenge.I do have a touch of green in there, but I'm going to enter it anyway, not because I think I'll win, but more for the fun of being able to say, "I did it!"
