Brianna's 9th Birthday Layout for Lasting Memories #667

It's time for another challenge from Lasting Memories, and hopefully this one will kickstart your creativity like it did mine! Design team member Sandy is celebrating her birthday today, so she challenged us to create a layout using numbers and tags plus three or more patterned papers. We could also play along with the optional birthday theme, which I did by using photos from my daughter's 9th birthday. All of Lasting Memories' September challenges will be open until the 30th, so hop on over and join in the fun!

Happy Birthday Little Man Layout for Lasting Memories #652 - WARMER Word Play

I missed the original Lasting Memories post on Sunday due to a crazy weekend with my son's graduation and his party, my birthday, plus entertaining out of town guests, and then my other son was baptized on Sunday! I'm just starting to catch my breath again and managed to put together this layout using the first challenge for June. Each weekly challenge features a summer themed word, and we need to add an item for each letter. For this week's word, WARMER, I used the following list:

W - washi tape
A - arrow
R - red patterned paper
M - mixed media (used texture paste and a stencil to do the stars in the corner)
E - enamel stars
R - rub-on (XOXOXO)

Bee Birthday Card

I needed to make my hubby a birthday card but didn’t have a clue where to start, so I pulled inspiration from a couple of challenges that helped me decide on the bee theme and the tic tac toe board. I was in the car a lot today, so I used the time to dream about how I wanted the card to look, then I got home and was able to assemble it in an hour! The sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap really helped pull together the elements I wanted to include, and my hubby loved the finished product.

Lollydoodle Cards

I haven't posted to my blog since last week because I've been super busy creating a fun card workshop using the adorable Lollydoodle papers! I used quite a variety of stamps, some old, some new, and all the die-cuts were cut using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. I was inspired by various sketches and challenges, so hopefully I don't forget to give anyone credit. Here we go.

Huntington Cards

I love holding card workshops, in part because it really makes me exercise my creativity! The Huntington workshop in particular made me think hard, since my workshop gals wanted non-seasonal cards and these papers have a definite fall flavor to them. Hope you like what I came up with!

Dotty for You BIrthday Card

My mom's birthday is coming up very soon, so I sat down at my desk this morning and created a card for her using scraps from my Dotty for You paper pack, plus unused shapes I had cut out on my Cricut. Am I the only one who has a box of those? The result is perfect contrast to this gloomy, rainy day in Southern California!

Moonlight Card 5

One more Moonlight card, and my workshop prep is almost done - woohoo! This card was a happy accident. I had tried using the pennant on another card, and it wasn't working. As I put it down on my desk, it ended up on top of a black scrap of cardstock and the green banner piece. I looked at it and decided to run with it.  Love it when that happens. The card background is actually a collage of stamps from different sets that I assembled on a block.

I have been trying to create a card with just black and orange all week so that I could play along with the Dynamic Duos color challenge.I do have a touch of green in there, but I'm going to enter it anyway, not because I think I'll win, but more for the fun of being able to say, "I did it!"

LOAD #23 - Happy Birthday Kaden

I couldn't find the perfect papers for this layout, so I decided to create my own. In the process, I also used the Variety Challenge from Split Coast Stampers: to create a monochromatic page. Mine uses shades of brown. This is harder than it sounds; I kept wanting to add red or blue to the mix! Hopefully the browns tone down the bright colors in the pictures. The layout didn't turn out quite how I hoped, but it will have to do! The pattern is Beauty in Repetition from Cherish.

Splendor Card Workshop Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted pictures of the cards I was going to be doing for a workshop this weekend. Well, this week I finally got busy and finished the other cards for the workshop. The ladies really loved doing this workshop, and it was lots of fun to show them how many different looks you can get using just 1 color of cardstock plus 2 pieces of B&T paper.

Splendor Card Workshop

Good morning, everyone. I want to start my post by giving a shout-out to my cyber friend Lela, who used this week's EMS Sketch to complete a page. Way to go, Lela! You beat me to it. Here's a link to Lela's page. She used the sketch on the right hand page of her layout, and it's fun to see how she adapted it to fit her photos.

Now, I need everyone's help ASAP. I am holding a card workshop at church in July, and since I will be away on vacation the last Sunday in June, I need to advertise it in church tomorrow. Here are the cards I've designed so far (we'll be making 2 each of 5 designs), and I need some feedback. Are they all winners, or do I need to ditch any and start again? Or even just add a little something to any of them? I can't add too much, however, since I am hardly making anything on this workshop and don't want to spend more than I make - LOL! Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

20 Card Set (Non-CTMH Papers)

I just finished a set of twenty cards for my mom's birthday. No, I am not giving her 20 birthday cards; I am giving her a set of cards that she can give to others. This may sound like a weird gift, but Mom loves to give cards and never has time to make any, so hopefully I am filling a need in her life. I actually made these from a template that CTMH consultant Pamela Wallace adapted from Antoinette Herrin's 20 card workshop. The whole workshop uses only 3 sheets of paper: 2 12"x12" patterned papers and 1 sheet of 12"x12" cardstock, plus 20 card bases. I plan to use this same template for a card workshop in two weeks, so I wanted to try it out first. Thanks for being my guinea pig, Mom! I didn't use CTMH papers for her set, but I will post a set using CTMH papers after I get my supplies later this week. One important thing I learned: it would be a lot easier to make 2 copies of each card design (for a total of 10 designs) rather than having to make 20 unique cards. Whew, that was a lot of work! I also doubled my appreciation of CTMH's double sided B&T papers. You can do so much more with two sheets of paper when you have a different design on each side. Feel free to let me know your favorite designs, so that I can incorporate some of these ideas into my final workshop. Thanks!

Man for All Seasons Birthday Card

This week has certainly been a card-making week, and there is no end in sight. I've made cards for Mother's Day and for my BSF leader (I'll post that one tomorrow after my Thank You stamp set arrives!), and tomorrow I am doing a 20 card workshop with my friend Lisa for a charity event. I still need to make cards for Teacher Appreciation week, and in the meantime, I put together this card for my husband's birthday. The idea came to me earlier this week as I was sorting the junk on my scrapbook table. Some die-cut snowflakes happened to find themselves next to a scrap of Hawaiian paper, and eureka! an idea was born. I went to work with my Monthly Word puzzle stamp sets, picking images that seemed to represent each of the seasons. Using the On Your Left pattern from Jeannette Lynton's Originals book, I created this card. The inside says "Happy birthday to my man for all seasons." Greg really liked it, and even thought I should make more (not for him, though!), so I guess the hard work I put into it paid off. Happy birthday, Honey. You truly are my man for all seasons.
