National Gallery 1500s Layout
I ran out of pictures from 2014 to scrapbook, so while I'm waiting for my order to arrive, I turned my attention back to my London photos from 2017. Since we took a little over 3000 photos and I'm currently on Day 5 of a 14 day trip, I have a feeling I will be scrapping these photos on and off for the next five years! Anyway, for these photos from the National Gallery, featuring some of our favorite paintings from the 1500s, I decided to scrapbook just a few and place some more in a pocket page. Not including the white, there are only two colors on this layout: Barn Red and 3 shades of grey. I did this for a challenge I'm hosting over at Scrapbook.com, and let me tell you, it requires a lot of self-discipline not to add more colors - LOL!
Recipe:
Picture Perfect, All the Details, Alphabet Solo "R" & Love Life stamp sets
Paper Fundamentals Basic Assortment
Barn Red, Linen, Whisper & Grey Wool cardstock
Barn Red, Slate, Whisper & Grey Wool ink

Cricut Artiste cartridge: title banner
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #146
Challenges: Lasting Memories #447 Sentiment stamps (picture perfect, all the details, love this, remember); Heart 2 Heart Scrapbook Layouts (I could have chosen many of my layouts for this challenge, but I felt pretty proud of what I managed to do with some discontinued product, so here's my entry!)

Happy Summer Memories Layout
Layouts with a diagonal orientation are always a challenge for me, but I couldn't resist trying to create something using the May double sketch from Stick It Down. When you run papers diagonally across a page, a 12" long piece of paper is too short to fit all the way across the page, so I had to piece together the striped paper strip in a few places. Hopefully you can't tell!
Recipe:
Magnolia papers (MME)
Cocoa ink
Pure Brown marker (Zig)
Hopscotch PML card
Paradise & Floret Just Blooms paper flowers
White Daisy & Chocolate brads
Ribbon Boutique ribbon (Berwick)
Decorative brads (from my stash)
Dreamin' Big Complements "happy"
Pattern: Stick It Down May 2019 double page sketch
Challenges: Scrap With Stacy photo inspiration - I was inspired to add pink flowers to the layout, even though there are actually no flowers on the plants my kids are watering! I also used a script "happy" just like in the photo.

A Classy Christmas Party Layout
Taking a detour from my 2014 photos to scrapbook a layout for my daughter's school album. Heart 2 Heart has a florals challenge on their blog this month, but I didn't have a ton of pictures that went with florals, so I decided to add poinsettias to these Christmas party photos. Plus there are flowers in the patterned paper, so even though it's subtle, this is actually a floral-y page!

Fun in the Sun Layout
For the last of my Sea World pictures (for now), I had some miscellaneous ones of the kids enjoying the sun, the splash pad, and the animals, so I combined them on a traditional page and a pocket page. Here's the traditional page:
Recipe:
Perfect Summer Day papers & chipboard (Lisa Bearnson June 2007 Kit of the Month)
Autumn Terracotta & White Daisy cardstock
Autumn Terracotta ink
Pure Brown marker (Zig)
Fun in the Sun title block, frame, quote, and Popsicles (DCWV)
Studio Calico enamel dots (American Crafts)
Cricut You Are Here cartridge: sunscreen tube
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #118
Challenges: Double Trouble #28 Spring/Summer (Thing 1 - I chose summer photos of the kids playing in the sun + Thing 2 - played along with the Three Amigo's food/drink challenge by adding some Popsicles to my layout)
And here's how it will look with the pocket page:

Mother's Day Card 2019
I was working on a layout when I suddenly realized Mother's Day is this Sunday and I hadn't made a card for my mom yet - bad me! I wanted to try something a little different, so I pulled out the Happy Place stamp set that I had purchased a while ago but never used. The little nesting dolls are so cute, and I thought they would be a fun image to use on my card. The rest of the pieces took a little longer to fall into place, but I ended up using a bunch of random stuff that managed to look good together. Just an FYI: the patterned paper is from a Christmas kit and has mittens on the back (which would take me forever to use here in Southern California), so I re-purposed it for a Mother's Day card. Sometimes out of the box thinking can really help use up some of your stash!

On Cloud 9 Layout
For my little boy, the highlight of his day at Sea World was getting to meet the Sesame Street characters. He was totally on Cloud 9! I scrapbooked a few pictures of him and my daughter posing with them, and put the rest plus a journaling card in a pocket page. The Studio Challenges blog is asking to see lots of threes in our layouts, so I included a 3 word title, 3 photos, 3 patterned papers, 3 circle embellishments, and 3 Thickers. That's a lot of threes!
And here are a couple of photos from my pocket page showing Angel meeting Bert and Ernie.
Recipe:
DCWV Summer Stack papers
Canary, Goldrush, Star Spangled Blue, Pixie, Cranberry & White Daisy cardstock
Star Spangled Blue, Pear, Cranberry, Pixie, Goldrush & Canary ink
Green baker's twine (from my stash)
Escape the Ordinary Thickers (American Crafts)
Cricut Artiste cartridge: title

Thrill Seekers Layout
Another layout I completed on National Scrapbook Day, also from Sea World. The roller coaster die-cut from my Cricut You are Here Cartridge is so darling but not something I think I'll use often, so I jumped at the chance to include it here.
Recipe:
Extreme Caps Alphabet stamp set
Tinkering papers
Sky, Slate, Lemon & Cranberry cardstock
Cranberry, Twilight & Clover Meadow ink ink
White enamel stars
Our Adventure circle sticker (MAMBI)
Field Notes Thickers (American Crafts)
Red ric-rac
Cricut You are Here cartridge: roller coaster, cars
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #167 (rotated right)
Challenges: The Crafter's Cafe #218 - make your own background and/or use dies or punches (I went with die-cuts, although I kinda created my own background with the little visual scene of the roller coaster); Double Trouble #27 - SomeThing, AnyThing & EveryThing (Thing 1 - I never used the roller coaster die-cut before, Thing 2 - I also played along with the Crafter's Cafe challenge, Thing 3 - I stamped my title plus added 2 sentiment stickers).

Under the Sea {World} Layout
Did anyone else get to scrapbook on National Scrapbooking Day? I got four layouts completed, so here is #2. We went to Sea World twice in the summer of 2014, so it might be a challenge giving a unique look to all the layouts I will be scrapping, but I'm going to try. Here's my first one, using the same title I used for my daughter's Open House layout I did in February. Since they are from different years and will be in different albums, I don't think my family will even notice - so don't tell them! This layout was lots of fun to embellish; I especially enjoyed creating the large starfish, which I die-cut and then embossed with small dots and lines up each leg.

Everyday Ordinary Life Layout
It's National Scrapbook Day, and I'm playing along with the challenges over at Scrapbook.com and anywhere else I can find! Anyone else scrapping today? Here's my first layout of the day, using a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy. I seldom scrapbook only one photo, but this sketch was perfect for this single picture, and my layout just flew together. Thanks for the inspiration!
