Furniture for Pharaoh Layout

I'm continuing scrapping my photos from the King Tut exhibit, so here is one with some of the furniture that was found in his tomb. Since there were too many photos to scrapbook on traditional pages, I inserted a pocket page opposite. You can see a few of the photos from the pocket page below my layout. My title is a little obvious and not very exciting, but at least I used alliteration, right?

{Shipwrecked} Imagination Station Layout for Lasting Memories #751

Hello, everyone. It's a happy day here in Southern California because my daughter's softball team won their second playoff game yesterday despite fierce winds and lots of dust in the air! Congrats, Cougars! And that was on top of my daughter receiving the Most Improved Player award at the sports banquet on Friday night, so it's been a good sports weekend for our family.

In other news, Lasting Memories has a new challenge posted, another Tic-Tac-Toe Board, and I got to scrap some more fun memories from Shipwrecked VBS. I chose the middle column with Stripes + Flowers + Stickers, which was a popular one with the rest of the Design Team. There are so many fun combinations you could use, though, so we would love to see you create a layout and link it up over at Lasting Memories before the end of the month!

Here's my layout:

And here's the board:

Since I've already done a soccer page for each of my kids for this particular season, I decided to just scrap a couple of the game photos for my son and put the rest of the photos in a pocket page. Halloween Prep Layout for Lasting Memories #722

I'm on a scrappy roll, with two layouts completed in two days, so here is my latest, featuring the new Lasting Memories challenge. Brandi Jo is challenging us to be inspired by Autumn this month, so the first challenge is to be inspired by pumpkins - create a layout using at least 50% orange, and include a round element. I think I have more than 50% orange here, and the round elements are the sub-title letters and the circle behind the top pumpkin sticker. This was a fun and relatively easy challenge to complete, so hopefully you are now inspired to hop over to Lasting Memories and play along!

Recipe:
Background Elements, Spooky Smiles, Vintage Type & Wicked stamp sets
Pumpkin Spice papers
Tangerine, Paprika, Mink & White Daisy cardstock
Tangerine, Mink, Autumn Terracotta, Peacock & Black ink
Black marker
Pumpkin Spice stickers
Orange ric-rac (JoAnn Craft Essentials)
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: banner
Pattern: EMS Sketch Challenge #108

Challenges: My Time to Craft #544 Autumn Colors; Colorful Options October challenge: orange; Time Out Challenges #273 - I was inspired to scrapbook some pictures of my beautiful kids enjoying a favorite autumn activity, and I used some shades of orange along with some other autumnal colors.

Bolt Up! Layout

My hubby is a huge Chargers' fan, so he loves going to their training camp, and in 2017, his brother and his nephew were able to attend along with our youngest son. To scrap these photos, I pulled out some cardstock, stickers, and stamp sets (no patterned paper), plus I used my Cricut to create the curved lightning bolt for the Chargers' logo. I had to watch a tutorial to remember how to do the journaling using my Cricut and pen, but I think it was worth the time it took to figure it out. Although I don't care much for football myself, this layout was a labor of love for my sweetie!

Recipe:
In the Backgrounds, Background Elements & Distressed Backgrounds stamp sets
Carolina, Bluebird, Goldrush & Honey cardstock
Carolina, Goldrush & Honey ink
Black marker
Stardust My Stickease cardstock stickers
Cricut Design Space: journaling using Quinn Type & lightning bolt (imported)
Cricut You Are Here cartridge: football helmet, stars
Challenges: Craft Rocket #115 No designer paper (I used stamps to create the stripes on the top and bottom of the LO and to add some interest to the Goldrush cardstock); Double D Challenges - Reach for the Stars (stars on border stickers + die cut stars)

Out to Sea Layout

My husband used to go on a fishing trip every year with our eldest son, and I asked him to write the journaling about the photos from their trip on 2017. I spent a while doing some mixed media work on the upper left and lower right corners of the layout to transform white cardstock into the background you see here. I was also inspired to adapt the sign from the Nemo attraction at Epcot and really went overboard creating the lettering, but I love how it turned out!

Update: this layout was chosen to be in the Top 3 for Cut It Up Challenges #306!
Recipe:
Background Elements stamp set
Fish Tales paper & stickers (Photoplay)
Sunset, Crystal Blue & White Daisy cardstock
Sunset, Sorbet, Spring Iris, Moonstruck & Outdoor Denim ink

Sing {Fishfest} Layout

I'm determined to get some serious scrapping done this month, so here's my first layout. I wrote quite a bit about this event (Fishfest, a Christian music festival in Southern California) when I scrapped the companion layout back in February, so I decided not to add a bunch of journaling. Instead, I just listed the names of the band/artists who performed, plus my hubby and son's names, by writing them around the bottom set of photos, then added some doodling for fun. For the background, I stamped and embossed the splatter stamp first, then brayered over the whole page using purple ink. The purple didn't come out as dark as I wanted, but I guess it shows up the photos pretty well, so it's all good!

Recipe:
Background Elements stamp set
White Daisy cardstock
Goldrush & Black ink
Lovely Lilac ink (SU)
Black marker
Clear embossing powder
Dimensional Elements Monograms chipboard - S,I,N,G
3-D foam tape
Pattern: Stick It Down April single page sketch from Facebook
Challenges: Color My Heart #593 Only Two (loved the Honey Butter and Royal color combo but didn't have either ink, so I did my best color match using old inks)

{You} Made It Layout

To scrap these photos of a friend's new baby, I played along with several challenges, including the Heart's Quest challenge to use hearts and a congratulations theme. The song lyrics, "Looks like we made it" kept running through my mind, so I shortened and adapted it to {You} Made It, with a special note of congratulations to the new parents as my journaling.

Parents' and baby's names blanked out to protect privacy.

Recipe (all supplies CTMH except where noted):
Chocolate Alphabet Small, Background Elements & Live Inspired stamp sets
March/April 2022 Mix-In & Skylark papers
Sage, Toffee, Chocolate & White Daisy cardstock
Sage, Desert Sand, Chocolate & Lagoon ink
Sienna fineliner pen (iBayam)

Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: tag, heart, brackets

Hello There Layout

Although Star Wars: The Force Awakens had been out for over a year by the time we saw these Lego figures at Legoland, it was still fun seeing them for the first time. The layout's title is based on the iconic line from the original Star Wars movie, when Ben Kenobi meets R2D2 (for the first time?) and greets him with "Hello there." I welded together the phrase in Cricut Design Space and added a little arrow to point towards the new characters.

Recipe:
Background Elements & Here's the Story stamp sets
October/December 2022 Mix-Ins & Stargazer papers
Mocha, Scarlet, & White Daisy cardstock
Mocha, Scarlet, Toffee & Almond ink
White gel pen (Sakura)
White Daisy baker's twine
DE Quotes chipboard
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: stars, tag, tab
Cricut Artistry cartridge: arrow
Cricut Design Space: title using Star Jedi font
Pattern: Scrap Our Stash June sketch (I shifted the stacked photos left to accommodate an extra photo)

Challenges: Cut It Up #280 Masculine theme + die-cuts; Color My Heart Color Dare #553 (my extra color was tan)

Mother's Day Card 2023

I'm super late creating my card for my mom this year, but hopefully it will get there in time! I started with a blank card base and used this technique to create a floral background. I'm not much of a mixed media gal, so this is probably as close as you will see me get. Once I created the background, I added some die cuts and patterned paper, but they weren't working for me, so I went back to the drawing board and found a card sketch from Stick It Down that I thought I could adapt for the word MOM. Part of me thinks I should have added a penned square around the letters to tie it all together, but I was too chicken, so I left it as is. I know my mom will love it no matter what, so that's what's important.

Recipe:
Background Elements & Intrinsic Backgrounds (2010) stamp sets
Gypsy, Lagoon, Sunset, Black & White Daisy cardstock
Gypsy & Lagoon ink
Black marker
Mocha Opaques pearls
Black button
Lagoon baker's twine
Heart stencil (Scrapbook.com)
Cricut Wall Decor & More cartridge: MOM
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: butterfly, daisies, hearts
Small flower punches (EK Success)
Pattern: Stick It Down May 2023 card sketch

A bunch of challenge blogs had a flower theme this month, so FYI: I was also inspired by the new purple and white daisies we planted last Saturday. They look fuchsia in the photo, but they're really more purple.

Challenges: Allsorts #727 April Showers bring May Flowers; Crafter's Cafe #296 Easter and/or Flowers (I went with flowers); Crafting Happiness #142 Flowers; Little Red Wagon #704 Spring Flower; Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #206 Tic-Tac-Toe  (use the middle column down with stencil + flowers + ribbon/twine)

Barefoot and Free with SVCC Layout

Although I meant to scrap these photos last summer, I just was never inspired to get this layout done. I'm actually glad, because I got some fun inspiration this week from a Stick It Down sketch and a Cupcake Inspirations theme that helped me create this fun layout!

Click on the picture for a closer view!

I had so much fun with the detail in the lower left corner that I had to show a close-up. I think I might be inspired to make a card as well using this idea!
