Elgin Marbles Layout

This is the companion page to the Monuments page I created earlier this week. There will be a pocket page between them to hold more photos and my journaling, which usually means I can scrapbook the two pages in totally different style even though they are thematically related, but I got lazy and just used the supplies I already had on  my desk from the other page!

Hands-On Learning Layout

My hubby used to teach Sunday school and asked me to help him out when he was doing a Passover meal for the class, so I got a few photos of the kids enjoying (or not) the foods. I decided to use the title "Hands on Learning" because it's the start of the school year and because it really was an interactive way to learn about this piece of history that is still relevant today. All the embellishments on the layout were die-cut on my Cricut using Design Space, and it was a lot of work, especially the seder plate items. Some were very detailed and didn't cut well at the small scale I needed, so I had to use the contour tool to remove all those details, which took more time than I should have spent - LOL! I popped up the sheep and the plate using dimensional tape, and the tag behind the plate pulls out to reveal my journaling, also done on my Cricut using a Cricut pen.

Recipe:
I Want Candy paper
Sapphire, Carolina, Fern, Canary, Shortbread, Chocolate & White Daisy cardstock
Sapphire, Carolina & Chocolate ink
Navy pen (Cricut)

My 100th Layout for 2025 - Cuteness!

I am so excited to meet my yearly scrapbooking goal early this year, especially since I had to crank out 9 layouts in the last week of  December last year in order to make my goal of 100 layouts! These photos were especially meaningful to scrap since they involved a new addition to my two youngest kids' biological family. I covered up the names for privacy reasons, but my kids were definitely excited to meet their new half sister.

Pre-Historic Days Layout

There has been a definite downturn in my scrapping mojo over the past week, but I finally decided to temporarily shelve the layout I was working on and move on to something that would inspire me more! Dinosaurs and rocks - who knew that would do the trick? LOL. These photos from the Natural History Museum were taken on the same day and location as the ones on the butterflies layout I posted last week, but with a vastly different theme. Mixed media is a bit of a challenge for me, but I tried to create a scene that look vaguely ancient, then added the die-cut frame and dinosaurs to it. The stamped "trees" on the right are actually flower silhouettes, but hopefully they came across as savanna-type trees when used in conjunction with  the dinosaurs.

Here's the background. I used a really old (but not pre-historic!) stencil for the hills, with a little bit of extra stenciling for texture, and then I stamped the trees and sun.

Recipe:
Treasure Life stamp set
Vicki Boutin Mixed Media Stamps - Circles (American Crafts)
Heavenly Blue, Topiary, Kraft, Goldrush, Pewter, Espresso, Pine & White Daisy cardstock
Goldrush, Desert Sand, Brown Bag, Sweet Leaf Fern & Topiary ink

Cricut Design Space: dinosaurs (from Erika Digital Design and GlamSVG by Emylia), grass, title (using A Child's Year font)
Pattern: Sketch-n-Scrap #318 (adapted for my mixed media-background, but I promise the sketch is where I started!)

Challenges: Neglected Stuff July 2025 - my stuff is the hills stencil that I haven't used since I started blogging in 2009, and the flower stamp;  NBUS #76 - my never before used item is the Vicki Boutin stamp set I used for the sun, the circle spots, and the adventure sentiment.

Graven Images Layout

I'm back to scrapping my King Tut exhibit photos, so here is another one featuring some of the statues we saw. I was running out of creative titles already, but the thought that these might be the types of "graven images" the Hebrews were forbidden to worship gave me the idea for the title and the journaling. Still loving the Stamperia papers and my Ancient Egypt ephemera book!

Recipe:
Land of Pharaohs paper (Stamperia)
Goldrush & Colonial White cardstock
Goldrush, Outdoor Denim & Vineyard Berry ink
Merlot gel pen (Cricut)
Goldrush marker
Ancient Egypt Ephemera book (Ruth Harding - purchased on Amazon)

Little Desperados Layout

Love these photos of my son and his friend fooling around in their fake moustaches at Sunday school . They totally reminded me of the bad guys in old westerns, so that's what inspired the title. Soccer Smiles Layout

My daughter's 2018 soccer team had bright green uniforms, so when it came to scrapping her picture day photos, I went with the brightest green I could find in my scrap pile! Then I pulled out a bunch of sports themed stamps and added patterns to the hexagons that I cut out using my Cricut.

Making the Cut Layout

Our insurance company insists that we keep a tree that is very close to our house trimmed back, so every six months my hubby has to climb a ladder to trim off all the branches that are overhanging the roof. My son was staying over at friend's house and they went to an Angels game. The other mom texted me a few photos of the boys so I could scrapbooking them. Go Fish Layout

I have scrapped pictures from the Aquarium of the Pacific at least four times that I recall, so at first I wasn't sure what to call this layout to differentiate it from all those other times, but the title Go Fish popped into my head, so I went with it!

EMS Sketch Challenge #122 + My Favorite Flakes Layout

It's Sunday, which means another Lasting Memories challenge has started, and it's a really fun one. Lisa gave us a list of paper sizes that we need to include on our layout. I decided to pull out photos from our Mammoth vacation in April 2018; I scrapped the rest of my photos from that vacation, but then was waiting for my Stampin' Up order with the adorable Snowy Scenes papers to arrive. Since my papers were brand new, I didn't just want to randomly cut into them, only to decide I wanted to use them differently, so I created a sketch with the four papers Lisa challenged us to use, and I even extended it into a double pager with a repeat of two of the papers. Feel free to play along with the Lasting Memories challenge, either using the sketch as inspiration, or just getting creative on your own. Be sure to leave a link in the comments if you use the sketch!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

{Shipwrecked} Imagination Station Layout for Lasting Memories #751

Hello, everyone. It's a happy day here in Southern California because my daughter's softball team won their second playoff game yesterday despite fierce winds and lots of dust in the air! Congrats, Cougars! And that was on top of my daughter receiving the Most Improved Player award at the sports banquet on Friday night, so it's been a good sports weekend for our family.

In other news, Lasting Memories has a new challenge posted, another Tic-Tac-Toe Board, and I got to scrap some more fun memories from Shipwrecked VBS. I chose the middle column with Stripes + Flowers + Stickers, which was a popular one with the rest of the Design Team. There are so many fun combinations you could use, though, so we would love to see you create a layout and link it up over at Lasting Memories before the end of the month!

Here's my layout:

And here's the board:

Ready to Get Wrecked Layout

I took a ton of photos of Vacation Bible School at our church in 2018, so prepare to be bombarded by layouts featuring the Shipwrecked theme! The first set I decided to scrapbook two photos of some of the decorations, and I placed the other photos in a photo storage page. My page is actually a lift of an amazing page Lis from Scrapbook.com created. I love how she tore map paper and then tucked all kinds of goodies under the edge, so I tried to replicate that look. Hopefully I did credit to her wonderful design! Looking at the page now, I wish I had moved the title over to the left of the framed photo, but it's glued down already, so I guess it stays.

Recipe:

Quakes Game 2018 Layout

We went to a baseball game for a local minor league team, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, with a group of people from our church. I'm not really into baseball, but it was fun hanging out and occasionally paying attention to the game. The green/blue color scheme for this layout came together really easily, and I decided there were enough other colors in the photos to keep it form looking boring. Hopefully I made the right choice!

Disney on Ice Layout

National Scrapbook Day is tomorrow, so I made a deal with my hubby that I get to scrapbook all weekend, starting today, and he would take care of everything around the house - woohoo! A fellow scrapper recommended checking out the NSD challenges on A Cherry on Top, so I am going to complete as many as possible, starting with this sketch challenge from Janet (see the sketch below). I liberated a Frozen sticker book from my daughter when I found it languishing under her bed, and since she is now 17 and no longer interested in Frozen, it was a great find to add to my layout, along with some super old paper strips from a Creative Memories Short Cuts Pack (anyone remember those?) and a few stamps. I usually take days to create a layout, so I love that I finished this one in just three hours!

Recipe:
January Word Puzzle (2009) & Cherish the Day (2013) stamp sets

Science Fair Project Layout

I took a detour from working on snow themed layouts from our Mammoth vacation to go back to my son's science fair project from 2014. Since I hadn't played along with Color My Heart's color dares for a while, I decided to try using their color scheme with orange and green plus neutrals, and I  am pretty happy with how it turned out, although I kept wanting to add blue because of my son's attire!

Dr. Seuss Day Layout

This cute photo is from Dr. Seuss Day in 2018, and I enjoyed mixing a few die-cuts that I created in Cricut Design Space with some school themed and floral ephemera to make a fun layout commemorating the day. The hat, fish, and journaling are inspired by my daughter's childhood favorite, the Cat in the Hat!

It's kind of hard to see in the scan above, but I added some Liquid Glass raindrops in the upper corner to represent the cold, cold wet day!

Recipe:
My Happy Place papers (Doodlebug Designs)

Hi everyone. I've been scrapping up a storm this week, and it's Sunday again, so here is my latest layout along with my design team reveal for Lasting Memories. In keeping with our Going in Circles theme, the challenge was to use circular ephemera or stamped images to embellish your layout. I chose to use some Easter photos from 2018 (love seeing my family all dressed up) and used stamped circles and embossed cardstock circles. If you would like to check out this or any of the other circle themed challenges for this month, click on the link above before the challenges end on March 29.
