Hey There Peanut Layout

I host a daily inspiration challenge over on Scrapbook.com, and for September 13, since it was National Peanut Day, I asked the scrapbookers to either be inspired by one of Charles Schulz's Peanuts cartoons or to use a peanut image on their artwork. I was originally going to use the cartoon theme, but then I had the idea to use the word peanut in my title, springboarding off the alternate definition of a peanut as "a cute person, used as a nickname to show affection." Little Tristan was certainly a cute peanut in these photos!

The Truth About Flat Stanley Layout

My daughter did a Flat Stanley Project in 2nd grade where she created a Flat Stanley and mailed it to my sister, who then took a bunch of pictures of Stanley doing all kinds of things, then she mailed it and a journal about their time together back to us. I saved Flat Stanley, the photos, and the journal, and was going to title this layout Flat Stanley, but then I opened up a new stamp set I had purchased and it had the conversation starter "The truth about . . " and that sparked a whole new idea for the layout. I wrote a whole bunch of "truths"' about Stanley based on the photos my sister sent, and added them to a pull out tag on the layout. Really fun to get creative that way, and I hope you enjoy the result!

Happy Easter to everyone. Hope you are all having a blessed day with families, and that you have a few moments to sneak off to your scrapping place! I've moved on from scrapping about the Natural History Museum (three layouts is enough for me) and have some circus photos to scrap. Circus photos are always a challenge because, due to the lighting, so few of them come out well. I managed to use a few pictures despite the pinkish-purple cast to the photos.

Monkey Card

The theme for the baby shower I'm going to this afternoon is jungle, so I decided to put together a jungle card. I started with the emerging colors technique to stamp the background, and then layered papers until I got the look I wanted. The monkey wasn't quite working for me until I dug through my box of scraps and found a left-over vine from one of my workshops. Ta-da, monkey swinging from a vine. Love it!

Week 22 Layout Linky - The Story Layout

I guess I ran out of mojo and photos to scrap at the same time, because I never got back to scrapping the rest of my LOAD for May. Oh well, I still got a lot done, so I can be thankful for that. Inspiration found me today, and I was able to complete this layout from the zoo. It uses Sketch 121 from The Scrappiest blog. I had quite a bit of journaling that I wanted to include, and the sketch didn't show any journaling space, so I improvised. Since the picture on the right was going to be raised up anyway by the chipboard frame underneath it, I decided to make it into a journaling pocket. Using 3-D foam tape, I raised the bottom and right side of the photo, and a journaling tag slides in easily.

Wild Thing Layout

I haven't posted many layouts this month, not because I haven't been scrapping, but because I've been trying to use up my non-CTMH supplies, and I post all my non-CTMH layout on my Splitcoast Stampers gallery. If you want to see more layouts for this month, feel free to check it out. Here's a new layout using my CTMH stash, and I really raided my embellishment box for this one! I can't decide what my favorite part of the layout is (beside the cute pictures of my son and his kitty cat): the stamped lion, the buttons, the ribbon, the title. This is one of those layouts that I am really happy with. Hope you enjoy it, too.

VBS Layout

This past summer, I helped out with the music at Vacation Bible School at church, but I ended up with lots of extra time on my hands once that was done every night, so I took a ton of pictures. Here are a few of the missions assembly. Just for fun, I pulled out an old tool when I was scrapping these. When was the last time you used your paper crimper? I couldn't remember, but it was cheaper to add strips of crimped paper to this layout than using grosgrain ribbon would have been, and I actually like the effect.

20 Card Set (Non-CTMH Papers)

I just finished a set of twenty cards for my mom's birthday. No, I am not giving her 20 birthday cards; I am giving her a set of cards that she can give to others. This may sound like a weird gift, but Mom loves to give cards and never has time to make any, so hopefully I am filling a need in her life. I actually made these from a template that CTMH consultant Pamela Wallace adapted from Antoinette Herrin's 20 card workshop. The whole workshop uses only 3 sheets of paper: 2 12"x12" patterned papers and 1 sheet of 12"x12" cardstock, plus 20 card bases. I plan to use this same template for a card workshop in two weeks, so I wanted to try it out first. Thanks for being my guinea pig, Mom! I didn't use CTMH papers for her set, but I will post a set using CTMH papers after I get my supplies later this week. One important thing I learned: it would be a lot easier to make 2 copies of each card design (for a total of 10 designs) rather than having to make 20 unique cards. Whew, that was a lot of work! I also doubled my appreciation of CTMH's double sided B&T papers. You can do so much more with two sheets of paper when you have a different design on each side. Teacher Appreciation Cards

I didn't get my box with new stamps in it until yesterday afternoon and so couldn't finish my thank you card for my BSF leader (maybe I'll be able to post it by tomorrow). Instead I worked on cards for Adrian and Elliot's teachers and teacher's aides. The new CTMH catalog had this really cute paper pack called Animal Cookies which seemed perfect for teacher cards. I used the Creative Basic Animal Cookies Collection, which features only two patterned papers, but I loved both of them. The cards turned out just as I wanted them - yay! - and I only used half a sheet of each patterned paper (plus cardstock, of course) to make six cards. Hmmm, I think I sense a card making workshop in the future. And here's a big shout out to all you teachers out there. You have no idea what an impact you make on your students, so, even when the going gets tough, keep up the great work. You really are making a difference!
