Kindergarten ABC Album Final Layout

Since May was National Scrapbook Month, I started out with the intention of scrapping 20 layouts, but life intervened. During the first week of the month, my 11 year old son, whom my family adopted four years ago, went in for surgery to widen his constricted aorta. Despite seeming to come through the surgery with flying colors, some complications developed and my son went home to be with the Lord the day following his surgery. We miss him desperately, and I wasn't sure I would be able to scrapbook about him any time soon, but I made the decision to finally finish the ABC album I had started for him in kindergarten. It was intended to be a gift for his teacher, but I worked so hard on it that I just couldn't part with it, so I saved it for my son. I still hadn't completed the final layout, but my husband really wants to include the album as part of the display table at our son's memorial service, so I pulled out my supplies and forced myself to scrapbook. The process has been therapeutic, and I am so grateful to have this memento of my baby.

ABC Album N & O Layouts

The latest layouts for my son's kindergarten ABC album include the letters N and O. For the N layout, I used the June 1st sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. Everything is compressed on my layout to compensate for the smaller format while still using a 4" x 6" photo, but I tried to add some fun touches anyway,

The O layout uses Anna's sketch from The Studio Challenges. I loved the flowers on her original sketch and was even able to find some that reminded me of them among my Cricut cartridges.

ABC Album L & M Layouts

The ABC album I'm creating for my son's kindergarten teacher is chugging along; only 10 more layouts to finish by Thursday! Here are a couple more.

The L layout uses an older sketch from Stuck Sketches; since it featured lots of white space, it was easy to pare it down to fit my 8" x 8" format.

The M layout is a scraplift of this layout from Elizabeth, which is in turn a scraplift of this layout. And the love goes on! In the interests of privacy, I blurred out the teacher's name, but be assured she was great for my son.

ABC Album E & F Layouts

After an incredibly busy week helping finish end-of-school-year assignments (picture me holding a cattle prod - LOL!), I was able to find time to complete two more layouts for my ABC album.

For the E layout, I used my new sketch for Splitcoast Stampers. Since the original sketch is 12' x 12", I had to shrink it down to fit my 8" x 8" format and then adapt a few components, like tracing an outline around my photo with a gel pen instead of framing it.

The sketch:

My layout:

The F layout was based on Sketch-n-Scrap #106, but once again I had to adapt it for my small format. I used a standard 4" x 6" photo, so that covered up a lot of the horizontal strip on the sketch, so I decided to just mat the photo and move some elements around to fit. For example, instead of a banner, I tucked a strip under the ring that replaced the sunburst from the sketch, and I moved the subtitle down below the horizontal strip.

The sketch:

ABC Album B Layout

I'm plowing through the layouts for the ABC album for my son's kindergarten teacher. Here's another one, using the May single-page sketch from Stick It Down. It was a lot of fun to work with the sketch, and I might save it to use later on a full size page!
