Gonna Catch a BIg One Layout

Catching the big one may have been the dream, but I don't think it was reality. We went home without any fish, but it was still fun for those who tried it. I kept this one pretty simple because I'm tired after spending the day at the rodeo, and I want to go to bed! I'm not entirely sure if fishing counts as a sport (maybe someone can clarify that for me), but I'm going to enter this in the Creative Belli sport challenge for this week.

Monday evening, and I'm almost caught up with posting my layouts for the month! Here's one of my favorites so far this month. I especially had fun creating the fish on a line. I used the scalloped border from the "A Little Everything" stamp set and turned it upside down to create waves, and the fish is popped up above the waves using a 3-D foam square. The design is another Becky Higgin's sketch.

Waikiki Layout

I recently got a package of Perfect Day Level 2 papers as part of a CTMH promotional, and I knew the slightly ornate design on the Sorbet paper would go perfectly with the picture of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. I debated on using the Juniper that comes with the paper pack, since it is picked up in the details of the hotel awnings, but it made the ocean pictures look funny, so I settled for Crystal Blue with Creme Brulee and Chocolate accent pieces. I stamped the Crystal Blue with descriptive words using Crystal Blue ink, producing a tone-on-tone look that doesn't overwhelm the photos. The rest went together pretty easily, and now I only have 2 layouts left to scrap from our Hawaii vacation. Woohoo! If I can crank out one tonight while I'm watching t.v. with the hubby, and try to fit one in tomorrow after the kids' soccer games, I will have achieved my goal of completing my Hawaii album this week. Now bad, considering I originally though I could polish the whole thing off in July! Wish me luck.

Aquarium of the Pacific

When Grandma and Grandpa Even came to visit in January, we all went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. The boys zoomed from exhibit to exhibit, trying to see everything at once. I think the only place they slowed down was at the playground, where they happily squirted water at each other for about half an hour. I just had to capture my memories of that super-speedy day with this layout using the Majestic Blue paper pack. I used Liquid Glass on the sea-shell, fish, and starfish. I love how it gives them a 3-D effect and really makes them pop out from the page.
