My hubby took our older boys to Disneyland, which gave me an opportunity to pull out some Disney themed papers and stickers and create this fun layout!

Stash Busters October Week 4

I am hosting the new Stash Busters challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers for anyone who has tons more scrapbooking supplies than she could use in the next 10 years - LOL! I would love to have you create a layout using the listed items and then link up at SCS using the link below.

If you are anything like me, you have tons of older product stashed away in corners of your scrapping area, gathering cobwebs while you concentrate on newer items. This month, I am challenging you to use up certain items from your stash. I'll post a new list each Thursday this month (except the 31st), and you have until the last day of the month to scrap your layouts using the products. If you complete all four layouts, you will get an honorable mention for the month! Sound fun? Let's get started.

Since this is our final challenge this month, I'm mixing it up by giving you two options from which to chose:

Option 1
• 2 Patterned papers that are older than one year
• Felt or fabric
• 3 Buttons
• 1 Rub-on

Option 2
Find a layout that you completed at least a year previously but never put pictures on, and get some pictures printed and onto the layout!

You can use additional products, but you must use at least one of each of the items listed. If you don't have an item in your stash, please don't rush out and buy it! Just substitute a similar item from your stash. Happy hunting!

I went with Option 2 for my layout and used an incomplete layout that I've had in my stash for several years. Woohoo!

Can you believe we're already at the 40th week of the month? Wow! the older I get, the quicker the years seem to fly by. Today's layout is clean and simple, but I love the photos of my son enjoying the snow. Sometimes I like to let the photos shine without much in the way of accessories. Hope the pictures make you smile.

Roxie Wedding Card

When my hubby asked me to create a card for a co-worker's wedding we're attending tomorrow, I immediately thought of the beautiful floral paper from the Roxie kit. This card is a variation on the Circle Collection card from Wishes. I didn't want to cover up too much of the floral paper, so I eliminated the two smaller circles. I used Barn Red ink instead of Tulip in order to bring a richer, more elegant feel to the paper. The curves of the "&" from the Chocolate Alphabet Large seemed to coordinate well with the flourishes on the Roxie paper, so I used it to tie together the initials of the bride and groom's first names. I printed our wishes for the happy couple on a piece of vellum and sandwiched it between the cover pieces. I also stamped on the inside of the back cover, and I really like how the vellum softens the image.

Week 18 Layout Linky + LOAD # 2 - Ladies' Tea

Having a challenge that you must complete sure makes you stick to it! I was getting tired and ready to give up on my layout and go to bed, but I knew it had to be finished today, so I persevered and here it is. I'm scrapping Christmas photos from last year, and this layout showcases the annual Christmas tea for my church ladies. The current scrapbook variety challenge at Split Coast Stampers is to use tags on your page, so I added two to hold some teacups.

LOAD #6 - Beauty

I finally got pictures developed for EMS Sketch Challenge #6, so here is my layout. My hubby took some pictures of a beautiful Southern California sunset (smog is good for something!), and they were so lovely that I decided to scrap them. This layout is not my usual boy-dominated style, but it was fun to work out what elements worked well together. Here's a technique for you: the Finishing Files are great for sanding painted metal to reveal what's underneath. I had one metal token left from the Connections Club package I used yesterday, so I sanded the other metal Creme Brulee embellishments to match the distressed look of the token.

3 Months Layout

I'm still working on my youngest son's baby album, and I've gotten quite a bit done. Here's my latest layout, using the studio pictures we had taken when he was three months old. I love looking at these pictures because they remind me what a sweet, happy baby he was. Then he hit the terrible twos! I've been scrapping a lot of red, white, and blue lately, which isn't my forte, but I'm feeling more comfortable with it. Hopefully practice makes perfect. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my Alphabet Solos stamps? They are so perfect for adding little descriptive words or phrases to layouts and cards, like I've done here.

LOAD #10 - Carving Jack

I'm taking baby steps in this whole business of using my Felicity kit, so today's layout uses a 4" x 12" strip of one of the Felicity papers. Woohoo! Not up to using a full page yet, but the day is coming. I love this layout because it uses a couple of cool pictures of my hubby carving the pumpkin. Too often he takes a backseat to my cute kids, so it's nice to see him front and center for a change.

Grateful Layout

I've been really busy preparing for 2 workshops this upcoming weekend. You've already seen the Christmas card one, and we'll be creating this scrapbook layout plus the card at my other workshop. The layout pattern is Clear Dimension from Cherish, and the card is based on the Twitterpated Workshop on the Go. My friend Lisa really wanted me to use the tree from the Grown With Love stamp set, so this is for you, friend! And of course, I had to use the darling hedgehog (he is a hedgehog, right?) on the card.

Waikiki Layout

I recently got a package of Perfect Day Level 2 papers as part of a CTMH promotional, and I knew the slightly ornate design on the Sorbet paper would go perfectly with the picture of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. I debated on using the Juniper that comes with the paper pack, since it is picked up in the details of the hotel awnings, but it made the ocean pictures look funny, so I settled for Crystal Blue with Creme Brulee and Chocolate accent pieces. I stamped the Crystal Blue with descriptive words using Crystal Blue ink, producing a tone-on-tone look that doesn't overwhelm the photos. The rest went together pretty easily, and now I only have 2 layouts left to scrap from our Hawaii vacation. Woohoo! If I can crank out one tonight while I'm watching t.v. with the hubby, and try to fit one in tomorrow after the kids' soccer games, I will have achieved my goal of completing my Hawaii album this week. Now bad, considering I originally though I could polish the whole thing off in July! Wish me luck.

More PCC Layouts!

I had too much data for one e-mail, so here’s the rest. Just in case you can't see it, here is a snippet of journaling from my "Fiji" layout. I had written this down but totally forgotten about it until I pulled out my vacation journal, and here was this cute story: "At the Fiji show, Adrian made friends with a 2 ½ year old girl who also collects rocks. They sat on a bench together and she put rocks in his pocket while he studiously avoided looking at her. It was hilarious!" It really pays to write those memories down when they are fresh, because it gets harder to recall them the older we get! For the "Fun" layout, I traced the card that came in the "Everyday Celebration" card kit that is the CTMH special for National Scrapbooking Month, and I used it for a journaling space. I've been dying to do that ever since I got my kit, and I finally got the chance. Isn’t it funny what makes a scrapbooker happy?!

Waimea Falls Layout

Another layout from the Waimea Valley Audubon Center. These pictures were taken at Waimea Falls. Not sure I love this layout, but I do like the Moon Doggie papers, and I had fun poking a border in the curved piece and the title piece using my paper piercer. I realized afterwards that I had a cute picture of my family that I forgot to use, which may be why I am not entirely happy with this layout. Oh well, maybe I'll make a "Hawaii in Review" page to put at the end of the album, and I can use it there. I'm off to do some more scrapping. Have a great weekend!
