Sing {Disneyland} Layout

I have one more set of photos to scrap of our Disneyland visit in March 2016, but I wasn't being inspired by them, so I pulled out these photos instead and had fun figuring out how to play along with a couple of crafty challenges!

Hey There Card

Yesterday I created a winter-themed card and today I moved on to the depths of summer with this card. Heart 2 Heart challenge blog asked us to create a project that features the color assigned to our birth month. My assigned color was Topiary, and let me tell you, there are not a lot of recent paper packs that feature Topiary. Since I'm still trying to deplete my pile of patterned papers, I dug through my stash and found the Splendor paper pack, which features Topiary and Goldrush. Using a cute sketch from Stick it Down allowed me to blow through a lot of paper, too, so I'm on my way to achieving my use-it-up goal! This card is really versatile because I can stamp whatever sentiment I need on the inside.

EMS Sketch Challenge 58 - Book Worm

Another month, another sketch! I know I've been doing a lot of single page sketches lately, but I promise I'll get back to doubles soon. In case you missed it, I posted a double page sketch for National Scrapbooking Day last month. Click here to see it. The month's sketch features two 4" x 6" photos with no cropping required. You can also include extra photos by adding a Flip-Flap to either or both photos, as I did with the left hand photo. I also placed my journaling on the Flip-Flap, since there didn't seem to be a good place for it on the sketch (although I'm sure all the crafty ladies out there can figure something out)! Happy scrapping, and don't forget to post a link of your complete layout. For every five entries, I will select a guest designer for the August sketch.

Lollydoodle Cards

I haven't posted to my blog since last week because I've been super busy creating a fun card workshop using the adorable Lollydoodle papers! I used quite a variety of stamps, some old, some new, and all the die-cuts were cut using the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Go Bug a Ranger Layout

I started this layout a couple of weeks ago and finally got back to it this morning! It's pretty simple, but I did do a couple of fun things. First, I created a mask using a cloud cut from the Artiste cartridge, and then I sponged around it using Heavenly Blue ink so the top of the page looks like a slightly cloudy sky. It's a really light shade, so it didn't show up well on my scan, but IRL, it looks really cute. I added a 12" x 8" Flip-Flap (not shown here) to the top of the right hand page; it holds 6 more photos and flips up so you can see the photos underneath. This is a great sketch for it, since it lines up really well with the patterned paper strip. I also included a large tag that slides out from behind one of the photos so you can read the journaling.

Water Bugs Layout

For my Day three LOAD, I am running a little behind on getting it posted, but there's a good yet funny reason. I was working on my layout last night and I could not find my Twilight stamp pad. I looked all over my scrap desk, and even checked other rooms of the house in case I had wandered into another room holding it and put it down somewhere. No luck, so I decided to call it a night and re-check in the morning with fresh eyes. Sure enough, I found it right away, misfiled in my ink storage tower!I was able to get back to work and finish the layout. I included a challenge from the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog: I used rock and roll stamping on my title and my little fishies (the fins are rolled in a darker color than the bodies). I also took on the challenge from Little Red Wagon to use at least three buttons. Now on to day 4.

LOAD #24 - Picnic

Only one week left of my LOAD challenge! For today's layout, I started with a sketch from the Nuts About Sketches blog and combined it with an idea from the June 2011 issue of Scrapbooks, Etc.: use paper strips on your page. The title was cut out using my Wishblade and White Daisy cardstock, which I then sponged with Goldrush ink to get a muted effect.

Layout Linky #21 + LOAD #22 - Pool Party

The June issue of Scrapbooks Etc. had the cutest little banner on the cover, and I tried to scraplift it. Unfortunately, my letter stickers on the banner didn't show up well when I scanned the layout, but trust me, they look cute in real life! I created the sun using a cardstock circle that I stamped with a pattern, then I put the title and window charm on top, and finally I trimmed the outer edge into rays. Fun and not too difficult. The layout pattern is Mesmerize from Magic.

Week 12 Layout Linky + EMS Sketch Challenge 26 - Lexi Layout

This month, the Let's Get Peachy blog posted a Roll 'Em Challenge. I went to the Roll 'Em site, rolled three dice, and got a 4, 5 & 2. That means I needed to put together a layout using 4 photos, 5 patterned papers, and 2 embellishments. This was perfect for some photos of my cute niece Lexi, plus it worked for a sketch I created, so I combined the two challenges. Fun! The twist on the Let's Get Peachy challenge was to use spring colors, which I mostly did. Black isn't very springy, but it made a nice contrast. My two embellishments are chipboard letters and stamped butterflies.

EMS Sketch Challenge 14 - Aquarium of the Pacific Layout

Another Monday, another sketch challenge. I'm posting this one rather late in the day, but I wanted to finish my layout to go with it yet I was having a hard time with it. Finally got it done to my satisfaction, and I took several liberties with the sketch, but I'm okay with that! In honor of two colors that are retiring from CTMH's lineup this fall, I used Ocean and Orange on the layout. I don't use these colors a lot, but I sure am going to miss having the option to use them! To create the background, I used a technique I saw earlier this week on Nona's blog. Splendor Card Workshop Part 2

A few weeks ago, I posted pictures of the cards I was going to be doing for a workshop this weekend. Well, this week I finally got busy and finished the other cards for the workshop. The ladies really loved doing this workshop, and it was lots of fun to show them how many different looks you can get using just 1 color of cardstock plus 2 pieces of B&T paper.
