Teacher Cards

Well, scrapping time has been scarce in our household, so I don't have a layout to show you, but I did get a few cards done for my sons' teachers. Both are pretty simple, but hopefully they demonstrate to the teachers how much they are appreciated! For the first one, the inside says, "The school year would not have been complete without U!" If you look closely, you'll notice I stamped the alphabets without a U in them.

LOAD #1 - Game Plan

Since I haven't been progressing very well toward my yearly layout goal of 200, I decided to do a Layout a Day (LOAD) challenge for myself this month. If I can keep it up, it should almost double my totals for the year! Here's my first layout, another soccer one. I decided not to use any soccer papers or stamps, and just focused on the stars from the Fanfare paper. I also used a sketch from the Nuts about Sketches Blog (Week 91 Bonus sketch).

The photos are from our trip to the Grand Canyon Railway Station in Williams, AZ, and this is the first page for our 2007 Arizona trip.

EMS Sketch Challenge 14 - Aquarium of the Pacific Layout

Another Monday, another sketch challenge. I'm posting this one rather late in the day, but I wanted to finish my layout to go with it yet I was having a hard time with it. Finally got it done to my satisfaction, and I took several liberties with the sketch, but I'm okay with that! In honor of two colors that are retiring from CTMH's lineup this fall, I used Ocean and Orange on the layout. I don't use these colors a lot, but I sure am going to miss having the option to use them! To create the background, I used a technique I saw earlier this week on Nona's blog. The Cat's Meow Card

Hi everyone. I am officially sad today because I am not at Close to My Heart's consultant convention. I've been checking out tweets, blogs, the consultant bulletin board, and the virtual convention in order to keep updated with all the fun activities and great products that are being showcased, so I'm really excited about our new idea book that will be released in September! The virtual convention includes on-line classes, and I just finished one about using alphabet stamps. Seems like a no-brainer, but I got a lot of cool ideas. I was inspired to create this little card. The outside features a cat made of alphabet stamps, plus the letters U and R (you are. . .), while the inside says "the cat's meow."

LOAD #23 - Lombard Street

Making this layout was almost as fun as walking down Lombard Street. I got to use a technique I saw in the upcoming CTMH summer idea book, alternating large and small brads in a row. I also formatted my journaling to create a curvy line on one side, hopefully evoking the idea of a winding street. This is my last San Francisco layout. The LOAD challenge has been great for me to finish scrapping this vacation!

LOAD #22 - Coit Tower

Today kinda got away from me, and now I'm finally posting my layout just before midnight! For this layout about Coit Tower, I used a lot of White Daisy textured cardstock, but I colored it using the direct to paper technique. Basically, you just take your ink pad and swipe it over the surface of the cardstock until the desired value is achieved. Handy when you don't have the right color of cardstock, you don't want to pull out your brayer, and you want the background color of the cardstock to show through a little. The layout design is based on a Becky Higgins' sketch.

My Favorite Bakers Layout

My kids love bananas, but they get really picky about eating them once the bananas have marks on them. I'd make them eat them anyway, except I love it when my hubby looks at the bananas and tells me to save them so he can make banana bread. Lately, Elliot has joined in on the fun. I'm not sure how much of a help he really is, but the two of them sure look cute as they whip up a delicious loaf of banana bread! I don't bake, but I had lots of fun using my new Recipe Box stamp set to record this yummy event.
