You Are My Sunshine Layout

I just did a layout featuring my little girl, so here is one giving my little guy some page time. This was a fun yet challenging layout to assemble! I cut out the sunburst pattern on my Cricut and went though my stash of papers to find blue ones in the correct shades, and then I had to trim them to fit in the openings of the Cricut cut. A bit of work, but I like how it turned out.

Dinner at the Clarence Layout

I finally finished scrapbooking my photos from 2014 (woohoo!), so while waiting for my order of photos from 2015 to arrive, it seemed an opportune time to catch up on a few more photos from my London trip. For some reason, we took a lot of photos of us at pubs and restaurants, so here are a few from The Clarence. I started with a scraplift from Scrapbook.com but was inspired to add the watercolor background paper and stamped houses because of the Library's Anthology challenge based on the cover of Mary Poppins (see below). The challenge is open until January 11, so there's lots of time to join in on the fun!

Gingerbread Houses Layout

I loved the creativity that went into planning a gingerbread house-making event to which my kids were invited, so I tried to get just as creative on the layout. First, I chose two single page sketches and combined them to create a double page spread. Then I dug through my sash of Christmas papers to find the right match for the photos, especially that violently bright green tablecloth! Then I kept adding bits and pieces to tie the two sides of the layout together, since they don't overlap in any way. This layout was lots of fun to put together, so hopefully you like the end result!

Biking Yosemite Layout

I was debating what sketch to use for these last photos from Yosemite 2012 when I noticed that the circle in the background of the sketch from The Studio Challenges reminded me of a bicycle wheel. That clinched it, of course, and I was able to find a wheel die-cut on one of my Cricut cartidges, so there was the basis of my layout. The little bicycle die-cut from the Cricut You Are Here cartridge is super cute, but I added some Red Stickles on the handles and chain guard for a shiny look. Since I'm not an real outdoorsy person, I had to include the "enjoy the ride" stamp to remind me that sometimes, when you're in the right place with the right people, the ride can be enjoyable!

Mini Land Layout

I am participating in a scraplift challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers this month, and, after getting inspiration for my page here, I then took it in a totally different direction. I loved Mary Pat's striped paper, and how she had strips of paper going up the side of her layout, so I lifted that, plus the bracket on a smaller size, and I used two of them. I also thought her sunburst was an interesting touch, but when I added that, it took over the page, making me decide to create a tiny neighborhood scene that reflected the subject of the layout. Strong Roots Layout

I love these family photos that were taken this spring with my parents and sister. This page is a little tribute to how much their support has meant to me throughout my life.  It's Mini-Virtual Scrapbook Night at Splitcoast Stampers, so I took Lela's challenge to use 4 items from her list plus 1 technique and incorporate them into my layout. The items I chose were: felt, ribbon, a swirl, 4+ patterned papers, and metal embellishments (that's 5, but hopefully it's okay). My technique was distressing. Paper Secrets' May Stash Challenge was to use only scraps and old embellishments on your layout, so I dove into my stash and found the Back Country papers and My Stickease, plus the felt swirl which I had totally forgotten about.

EMS Sketch Challenge 30 Part 4 - Lil' Bikers

I thought I'd share one last variation on Sketch 30. For this one, I only used the left hand page of the sketch, and, after reversing it, I replaced the top 3"x3" photos with three 3"x4" photos. I deleted two of the 3"x3" photos and added a 5"x4" photo to the bottom. Chantal from Split Coast Stampers posted a challenge to Spice Up Your Life by using the colors of Indian cuisine on your layout. I chose mustard (Sunflower), turmeric (Goldrush), tomato (Tulip), black pepper (Black) & chili green (New England Ivy). I love how this challenge made me think outside the box for my color combo! LOAD #21 - We're Family

I'm back to working on current family pictures. These were taken for no particular reason, just because the kids and the dogs were cute together that day! Okay, the dog tongues are a little gross, but it cracks me up that we were able to capture these shots. I just watched the latest episode of Art & Soul, and I'm dying to get my hands on those cute chipboard hearts, but until then, I had to make do with some Dazzling Diecuts. Watch out for more chipboard coming up soon (well, as soon as I place and receive my order)!
