Mirror Lake Layout

Anyone else experiencing the lazy days of summer? This is the last week before my kids go back to school, and I haven't felt like doing much except some reading and lounging around. Unfortunately, I had to do all that lovely back to school shopping, which hopefully is complete (unless I forgot something, which could definitely happen). Anyway, for today I'm posting one of my last Yosemite 2012 pages. In honor of National Coloring Book Day on August 2, I stamped and colored all the little square images on each page. Remember NHM with Emily Layout

I love the bright colors of the Free to Be Me kit from CTMH, so I enjoyed using them on this layout with the addition of a kraft background so they wouldn't overwhelm the photos. Our family has been to the Natural History Museum so many times that I wasn't sure how to accessorize this layout without being repetitive from past layouts, but I managed to pull out a few embellishments that I hope work for the theme!

SBVC203 - Viva La France
Using paper strips or ribbon and brads or buttons, create a French memo board to house the pictures and journaling on your layout. Not sure what one is? Here’s a link to some examples.

I started with the arrangement of the pictures and then added embellishments, tucking them under the ribbons like I would ephemera on a real French memo board. I really love how mine turned out because it reminds me of an eclectic bulletin board with lots of fun stuff to be discovered.

3 Months Layout

I'm still working on my youngest son's baby album, and I've gotten quite a bit done. Here's my latest layout, using the studio pictures we had taken when he was three months old. I love looking at these pictures because they remind me what a sweet, happy baby he was. Then he hit the terrible twos! I've been scrapping a lot of red, white, and blue lately, which isn't my forte, but I'm feeling more comfortable with it. Hopefully practice makes perfect. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my Alphabet Solos stamps? They are so perfect for adding little descriptive words or phrases to layouts and cards, like I've done here.

LOAD #23 - Goodbye Grandma

Although I sometimes have trouble working with red, white, and blue, this layout came together surprisingly quickly. Maybe it was the two shades of blue that made the process easier, or perhaps the splash of yellow. Whatever it was, I'm done already! My grandma passed away last month, and I was fortunate enough to visit her before she died. Since she lived out of state, my boys never got to know her well, so I'm glad she got this opportunity to see them one last time.

Picnic Layout

I took another break today from scrapping Hawaii pictures in order to complete another of Helen Onulak's CTMH How-To books challenges (#21). This time, she asked us to use the pattern "Column Composition" from Cherish. It only features 3 pictures, and I am totally not a 3 pictures on a two-page layout kind of gal, so I revised the sketch. Instead of 1 4"x6" picture on the left page, I placed 3 5"x3.5" photos, plus I added a Flip-Flap to page 2, so I actually have a total of 7 pictures on here. Much more my style! I used 2 papers from the Magic Moments kit, but the paisley one was really busy, so I turned it over and used the monochromatic side. This allowed me to stamp my journaling and some captions on the little 2"x2" squares, which was a good thing because I placed my title where the journaling was supposed to go. Speaking of the title, I posted two versions of the layout because I couldn't decide whether I liked it better with the title facing left or right. Please leave me a comment and let me know which you think looks better, version 1 or version 2. It's not fastened down yet, so I'll do that when I get some feedback on which way you like it. I'm sure all you experienced scrappers will have an opinion! Thanks.
