Say Cheese for Lasting Memories #648

Over at Lasting Memories, we're starting May's challenges a day early, so here's the first one for May, a Tic-Tac-Toe board. This is right up my alley due to the flexibility it gives me to get creative with at least one of the many options of row, column, or diagonal. I picked the left column with Lace + Sequins + Circle. Using a sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap, I created a layout featuring a few of the tops I purchased for our London trip back in 2017. I seldom post selfies, but these ones I had taken and sent to my hubby for his opinion were a fun reminder of getting ready for that trip, so I'm glad I saved them. If you have a special memory you're scrapping, please join us over at Lasting Memories and play along with this challenge! Here's my layout:

And here's the board:

#1 Diner Layout

For these pictures taken at my family's favorite diner, I started with a sketch and tweaked it to work with the photos. I added the rectangle of blue cardstock because the photos seemed to blend into the Kraft background yet were overpowered by just the blue. I'm not sure I love the look, but I decided to go with it.

Recipe:
Fresh Paint papers
Capri & Kraft cardstock
Capri, Candy Apple, Clover Meadow & Black ink
Black marker
License Plate (Karen Foster Designs)
Let's Wander stickers (American Crafts)
Red gingham ribbon (Offray)
Heart sequins (Tree House Studio)
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: tag, banners
Cricut Artiste cartridge: title
Pattern: Rochelle Spears April 2023 sketch

Challenges: Festive Friday #133 (die-cutting, numbers, black & white, gingham, food sentiment)

Sea Lions Live Layout

This must be the week to use leftovers, because this layout contains a bunch of die-cut chevrons left over from a layout I created in 2014. Fish Tales papers (Photo Play)
Glacier, Crystal Blue, Star Spangled Blue, Cranberry, Honey Butter, Goldrush, Topiary, Whisper, Black & White Daisy cardstock

Miscellaneous Happenings February 2017 Layout

Have you ever had the experience where you finish a project but don't get around to putting away some of your supplies, only to realize they would work beautifully for another project? That's what happened with the negative piece of black cardstock left over from my Crazy Sock Day layout. I had cut a large circle out of the middle of the cardstock and realized the negative piece would make a great frame for these random photos from February 2017. Score! The hearts and stars are also left over die cuts from my last layout, while the cloud, flowers, dragonfly, and banner die cuts were from my box of Cricut cuts, so double score on using up some stash!

Recipe:
I'd Rather Be Reading & He Said She Said stamp sets
Black, Paprika, Sundance, Capri, Hollyhock, Glacier, Blush, Cranberry & White Daisy cardstock
Black, Capri & Whisper ink
White gel pen (Sakura)
ShinHan Touch Twin markers
Simple Scrapbooks Everyday Moments pocket card (Scrapbook.com)
Freshly Baked & White enamel dots
Craft buttons
Mini flower punch (EK Success)
Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge: banner, flowers, dragonfly
Cricut Artiste cartridge: clouds
Cricut Design Space: Red Ribbon Week image (stars, hearts), cat on books image
Challenges: Time Out Challenges #236 World Book Day (I was trying to remember what book I was reading in February 2017, so I checked and "London" by Edward Rutherfurd was the first of about 12 books I read to get ideas for places I wanted to visit on our trip to London in April 2017)

Inspiration Station #48 (since I had the picture of that funny looking cloud, I decided to add cloud die cuts to the top of the layout and flowers at the bottom)

Crazy Sock Day for Lasting Memories #646

Welcome to this Sunday's sketch from Lasting Memories, featuring two photos, a wreath or ring, and a fall theme. I didn't opt for a traditional fall theme like Halloween or Thanksgiving, but an event that comes around every October is Red Ribbon Week, where school talk to kids about the importance of not taking drugs. My photos were taken at my son's school; the kids wore crazy or mismatched socks to remind themselves that taking drugs is crazy! The Lasting Memories Design Team would love you to dig out some fall themed photos and use the sketch to scrap one of your special memories, and don't forget to link up your layout over at Lasting Memories!

Here's the sketch:

Barefoot and Free with SVCC Layout

Although I meant to scrap these photos last summer, I just was never inspired to get this layout done. I'm actually glad, because I got some fun inspiration this week from a Stick It Down sketch and a Cupcake Inspirations theme that helped me create this fun layout!

Click on the picture for a closer view!

I had so much fun with the detail in the lower left corner that I had to show a close-up. I think I might be inspired to make a card as well using this idea!

Pit Stop Layout

This layout doesn't have a huge title that dominates the page, but the theme that really pulls it together is the little sticker that says Pit Stop. We were supposed to go to San Diego for the weekend with our two younger kids and my son's buddy Brian, but I got a text from Brian's mom the night prior to our departure saying he was feeling pretty scared about being away from home for the weekend. We decided to go to the Discovery Cube in Orange County on Thursday since it was a local venue and we could easily take Brian home afterwards if he was feeling homesick. As I mentioned in my journaling, he did great, so DCOC became our pit stop before we kept going for San Diego!

Recipe:
Fun Times stamp set
Watercolor paper (Recollections)
Field Trip papers & Journaling Pad (American Crafts)
Bamboo cardstock
Olive ink
Black marker
Field Notes ephemera (American Crafts)

Let's Wander stickers (American Crafts)
Later Sk8r puffy stickers
Challenges: Farm Quest Challenge Blog #25 Frog/Toad and/or Mushroom/Toadstool (since DCOC is a very eclectic kids' museum with a little bit of everything, I managed to add one frog and one toadstool to my layout!)

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We went to the early service at church and then out to breakfast, then I prepared our dinner in the early afternoon and I was able to spend some time scrapbooking this layout. The photos aren't the best quality, but since they were of my sweet son who passed away in 2021, I really wanted to scrap this memory.

Chocolate, Buttercup, Twilight & Black ink

Take Me Out to the Ball Game Layout for Lasting Memories #645

Welcome to this Sunday's Lasting Memories challenge, featuring a sketch with a twist: use summer themed photos. Although I just started scrapping my 2017 photos, I peeked ahead to July and found a cute photo of my hubby with two of our boys at a minor league baseball game, so I used that instead of two smaller photos. If you have summer photos you need to scrap, come play along with us through the end of the month. Even if you have an event where you took more than two photos, this sketch could be used as one side of a double page layout. The options are unlimited! Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

Cherish the Day and You & Me stamp sets
