{You} Made It Layout

To scrap these photos of a friend's new baby, I played along with several challenges, including the Heart's Quest challenge to use hearts and a congratulations theme. The song lyrics, "Looks like we made it" kept running through my mind, so I shortened and adapted it to {You} Made It, with a special note of congratulations to the new parents as my journaling.

Shower Layout

This layout has been sitting on my desk for weeks while I was busy with other things, so this morning I bit the bullet and got it finished! It was inspired by this layout, and I added a few embellishments to round it out.

@ Legoland {Again} Layout

I'm always reading that layouts don't have to be all matchy-matchy anymore in terms of the color scheme, so I'm trying to branch out a little in that direction. Case in point, for this layout, I used a different yellow than the one in the picture, and the Mint color isn't anywhere in my photos. Okay, those are only small variations, but baby steps are good, right? Maybe one day I'll not even worry about the colors in my photos when I'm selecting papers and embellishments - imagine that!

Another layout from our visit to Chile. I used the Sweet Symphony pattern from Imagine for this layout. For some reason, the layout looks unfinished to me, but I'm not sure what to add that won't clutter it up, so I'm leaving it for now. Hopefully inspiration will strike someday!

LOAD #13 - 4 Generations

Two posts in one day? What is the world coming to? LOL! As I mentioned on my previous post, I am trying to catch up on my LOAD, so here's another layout I cranked out this week but didn't post because of computer issues. For this one, I went back and used EMS Sketch 29. I also pulled out the stamp of the month from September (Limited Edition), and had some fun using it to create the tag and journaling box. Love that it only cost me $5. BTW, you really have to click on the picture and enlarge it to see the cute faces from the Family Ties stamp sets. Adorable!

Can you believe we're already at the 40th week of the month? Wow! the older I get, the quicker the years seem to fly by. Week 30 Layout Linky - Sweet Fun

I just finished this fun layout that uses a pattern from Magic (the right hand page of Juggling Act) but with a twist: I added a 12" x 4" Flip-Flap panel to the layout. I included both views so you can get an idea of what it would look like closed and open. I added a word cloud (fun) that is only visible when the Flip-Flap is open.

Week 8 Layout Linky - The Painted Desert Layout

Anyone else had a hectic week? I almost had my layout for the week finished on Saturday, but then life got crazy and I haven't had time to sit down and finish it until this morning. Hope nobody is getting tired of pictures from my Arizona vacation yet. I'm almost done scrapping; just Sedona and the ride home remain to be scrapped. Yay! Glacier Point Layout

I never got around to posting my layout for Sketch Challenge 16 yesterday, so here it is. I didn't have B&T paper that really went well with the pictures, so I created some (the Ponderosa Pine dot paper on the left), and then clear embossed the clouds on White Daisy cardstock before brayering over them in Crystal Blue ink. The finished product isn't fancy, but I wanted to let the pictures take center stage, and hopefully I accomplished that. Isn't my husband a great photographer? I guess EMS Sketch #12 was a good one for many people, since I've had several people tell me they were going to use it! Here's a cute summer layout from Michelle using the sketch. I finally got to Costco to have my photo reprinted for EMS Sketch Challenge #11, so here it is in all it's glory. The large photo was washed out at the top and dark at the bottom, so I had it printed up in black and white to see if I could get a better image. It's still not perfect, but better. I also tried a technique I had seen before but not tried, stamping on paper flowers. It sure adds interest to the layout!

LOAD #23 - Lombard Street

Making this layout was almost as fun as walking down Lombard Street. I got to use a technique I saw in the upcoming CTMH summer idea book, alternating large and small brads in a row. I also formatted my journaling to create a curvy line on one side, hopefully evoking the idea of a winding street. This is my last San Francisco layout. The LOAD challenge has been great for me to finish scrapping this vacation!

It's Sunday night and I am back from my retreat. I had a great weekend and got a lot of scrapping done, so I will try to catch up with posting it for all of you! EMS Sketch Challenge 4 - Family Hike Layout

Here is the latest sketch challenge for all you creative people to use. Remember, this is not a competition (there are no prizes), so you can use the sketch as is or tweak it until it fits your needs. No deadlines, just have fun with it. I had a lot of trouble picking papers for my layout, so it sat on my desk for three days while I tried different combinations with it. You know what finally helped me make my decision? Studio J. Studio J is a soon to be released product from CTMH that you can use to create digital layouts, and CTMH will print and ship them to you. There's no upfront cost to use it; you simply log into the website and start creating. I picked out a pattern (Studio J uses patterns from Jeanette Lynton's Cherish and Imagine books) and a paper kit, and started arranging my pictures on it. The first kit I picked didn't quite work for me, so with a click of a button, I was able to substitute another kit. I went through about 6 kits until I found one I liked, and it was so much easier than hunting through my stash to find the perfect papers. I won't be ordering the layout I created in Studio J because I already had all my pictures printed out at home, but what a great design tool! I'll keep you posted about the release date of this great new product, because I'm sure many of you will want to try it out.

VBS Layout

This past summer, I helped out with the music at Vacation Bible School at church, but I ended up with lots of extra time on my hands once that was done every night, so I took a ton of pictures. Here are a few of the missions assembly. Just for fun, I pulled out an old tool when I was scrapping these. When was the last time you used your paper crimper? I couldn't remember, but it was cheaper to add strips of crimped paper to this layout than using grosgrain ribbon would have been, and I actually like the effect.
