Women's Retreat 2025 Bookmarks

Our church's women's retreat is coming up this weekend, and since I had some free time on my hands, I volunteered to make bookmarks for each lady attending. I had done this before at my old church, but we usually only had about 25 ladies, so I didn't consider how much work would be involved in making 70 bookmarks! My printer doesn't like thick paper, so I ended up printing the Bible verse on colored printer paper, stamping the designs, and then adhering it to the patterned paper before laminating it and hole punching it to add the ribbon. I made the first 25 but was already getting tired of the design, so I decided to make three iterations. Here's the first set:

Dragonboat Races Layout

Every summer, my husband loves to participate in the dragonboat races. In 2018, his team placed second, and someone was nice enough to take some pictures of the team so I could scrapbook them!

Hello Trouble Layout for Lasting Memories #738

Hello to all you scrappers out there. It's time for another Lasting Memories design team reveal, and Sandy asked us to use 6" x 6" papers on a 12" x 12" layout. I am working on filling in a few blank pages in my 2006 album, so I chose some photos of my son Elliot as a baby. He has ADHD, and while it's not so bad now that he's almost 20 and has learned better, when he was little he was into everything!  I don't have a lot of 6" x 6" papers, but I pulled out a pad that I had received as a prize and decided the papers would work well on this page. I had fun challenging myself to do something I don't often try; hopefully you decide to use up some smaller papers and join us over at Lasting Memories before the challenge ends on March 1!

Independence Day 2017 Layout for Lasting Memories #706

Happy Father's Dad to all the dads out there! It's a beautiful Sunday here in Southern California, and today Lasting Memories is challenging us to scrapbook about our favorite holiday. I was tempted to say Christmas, because I do love that holiday, but I settled on July 4th because, to be honest, it's an easy holiday (just have to BBQ in the evening) and it's cheap (the parade and fireworks are free). EMS Sketch Challenge 70 - Buckingham Palace Layout

It's December and my Christmas gift to all my fellow scrappers is a new sketch! Special thanks to Sapphire1968 over at Splitcoast Stampers for inspiring me. I loved her Chalk Art layout and thought it would make a great sketch! Enjoy, and don't forget to post a link to your completed layout using the link-up below.

The Studio challenge blog wanted us to use gold on our layouts, which seemed a perfect fit for these photos of Buckingham Palace. I added lots of gold accents (embossed hearts, crown and dots, gold marker line, gold ribbon); my favorite was the title, which I cut out of white cardstock using Cricut Design Space, and then covered with Versamark ink and gold embossing powder. It was a challenge to heat emboss it without toasting my fingers, but I love the result!

Go Bolts! Layout

2013 must have been the year of the Chargers for my hubby, because this is the third Chargers layout I have scrapped from that year! I'm running out of creative ideas for football layouts, so I'm going to have to re-charge (pun intended) by checking out Pinterest or Scrapbook.com. Here I used older papers but a new sketch from Brenda Ragsdale that I rotated side-ways to fit my picture orientation. Loved this sketch, so I'm going to have to save it in my archives to use again.

Endeavour Layout

I got a few more photos scrapped this weekend, and I must confess I'm enjoying using my CTMH photo storage pages more than ever before. I've been combining traditional layouts which feature a couple of pictures with the photo storage pages that hold a bunch more photos plus PML style cards that I created myself. For my layout of the space shuttle Endeavour, I played along with this Liftapalooza challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges. I really loved how Ali made the old school torn edges look fresh, so I thought I'd try it myself! I also lifted the paper scraps idea and then scattered embellishments around the page.

For the companion page, I used this sketch from Sketches in Thyme PL Style in order to create the "Explore" card.

 The journaling card was a happy accident. I put down the striped paper scrap on the card, thinking I might cut a pennant out of it, and noticed the curved section reminded me of the curve of planet Earth, so I ran with that idea.

Scrap It Girl's color challenge (black + white + one other color of your choice) seemed perfect for this Halloween layout, but it was actually harder than I thought not to keep reaching for other colors to add to the layout!

Orlando Layout

Sketch 'n Scrap had a new sketch I wanted to try, so I pulled out some of my Laughing Lola paper to create one last layout for my family's 2010 Orlando trip, an intro page for our vacation. The pretty blue in the papers seemed a good match for the shade of the water in my pool photo, so I think the papers work even though there's no purple in either photo! I'm trying to loosen up on the matchy-matchy thing (since everyone tells me my colors don't have to match exactly), but it's always a struggle for me to try something new. Anyone else have this issue?

Epcot Layout

I have several layouts from Epcot to do, so I thought I might as well plunge in and get 'em scrapped. Here's the intro page, combining some really old and some brand new products. Disney Layout

If I had to describe this layout, I think I would call it "the one that almost got away!" I have had it on my desk for over a week, and I just could not finish it. Tonight, the Scrap It Girl monthly challenge came to the rescue, and I was able to take it in a new direction and get it done. The challenge asked us to incorporate twine, circles, arrows, a bird, and the color red, so I put all those elements in. Yay for challenges! The parrot was a piece of clip-art that I downloaded, printed out, and colored using my Prismacolor watercolor pencils. He's a little bright, but I needed something pirate-y for these pictures, and he's the only thing I could come up with.

Laurie & Sam Layout

I love these cute wedding photos of our good friends Laurie and Sam. I pulled out a sketch from Nuts About Sketches and some old papers from the Silhouette pack, and went to work to create a layout that is (hopefully) as beautiful as they are. Some challenges I'm entering: Heart 2 Heart Challenges asked us to include 2 lines, a circle, and a square on our artwork,  the Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge was to stamp on your artwork (I added the date stamp), at 4 Crafty Chicks they asked us to use stripes, and the Southern Girls challenge was to use pearls (mine are on the butterflies and lacy circle).

Grand Canyon Snow Layout

This layout has been sitting on my scrapdesk for days while I tried to figure out the finishing touches, and I finally decided to just get it done! One thing we hadn't counted on for our trip to the Grand Canyon was snow, but we encountered quite a bit, so I felt I had to memorialize it with at least one layout. I used the pattern Lovely Assistant from Jeanette Lynton's new book Magic, and several elements on my page were inspired by the layout on page 42 of the Fall / Winter idea book. The large chipboard oval on the picture of my son is actually an "O" from the Dimensional Elements Monograms "O" pack. There are two extra-large "O"s that would be difficult to use as part of a title because they're just so big, so I'm glad I found an alternate use for one of them!
