A Little Everything Card Workshop

A few friends are coming over tomorrow night to make cards. It's a small workshop, only four cards, but I know we'll have lots of fun. I really love the March Stamp of the Month, A Little Everything, and I think it is so versatile, so I decided to use it on all my cards. In the interest of keeping the cost down, I used mostly scraps, and I'm not using major embellishments, but I had fun with the Liquid Glass and Bitty Sparkles. I'm open to feedback, although I won't have a lot of time tomorrow to change anything, so please tell me if you have any minor tweaks that would improve the cards. Thanks to all the ladies who participated in the March SOTM Blog Hop. Their creativity totally inspired me! Special thanks to Annette Green for her Easter card, which was the basis for my Easter card.

EMS Sketch Challenge 4 - Family Hike Layout

Here is the latest sketch challenge for all you creative people to use. Remember, this is not a competition (there are no prizes), so you can use the sketch as is or tweak it until it fits your needs. No deadlines, just have fun with it. I had a lot of trouble picking papers for my layout, so it sat on my desk for three days while I tried different combinations with it. You know what finally helped me make my decision? Studio J. Studio J is a soon to be released product from CTMH that you can use to create digital layouts, and CTMH will print and ship them to you. There's no upfront cost to use it; you simply log into the website and start creating. I picked out a pattern (Studio J uses patterns from Jeanette Lynton's Cherish and Imagine books) and a paper kit, and started arranging my pictures on it. The first kit I picked didn't quite work for me, so with a click of a button, I was able to substitute another kit. I went through about 6 kits until I found one I liked, and it was so much easier than hunting through my stash to find the perfect papers. I won't be ordering the layout I created in Studio J because I already had all my pictures printed out at home, but what a great design tool! I'll keep you posted about the release date of this great new product, because I'm sure many of you will want to try it out.

Great 2B 8 Layout

I have to confess: I have a love/hate relationship with Chuck E. Cheese. I love that the kids have such a great time while we're there, but I hate having to scrap all those bright, busy photos. Can anyone relate? When scrapping Adrian's birthday party pictures this year, I tried to compromise by using only snippets of B&T paper on a solid color background. The fact that the B&T papers are slightly grungy looking helped to tone down the shock of bright, primary colors, and I actually find myself liking this layout. Hope you do, too.

Zoo Memories Layout

I'm finally feeling better today, so I put the finishing touches on my layout for Monday's sketch challenge, and here it is. The Jungle Leaves stamp set is a little cutesy looking, so, after I stamped the images, I sanded them to look more like the Expedition papers. You can click on the picture if you want to see a close-up. A word of advice to all scrapbookers: do not write your journaling when you are not on top of your game! In retrospect, I'm pretty sure we watched the chimps mock fighting, not the gorillas, so I'll have to go back and change what I wrote yesterday. Oh well, life goes on!

Pure Mischief Layout

I think I mentioned previously that I'm going back in time to scrapbook photos from 2007. Here's a layout from when my younger son was almost 2. Elliot was (and still is) a little bundle of mischief, so I love these photos that capture that part of his personality. My favorite part of this layout (beside the pictures) is the heart border on the right page. The idea came to me in the middle of the night, and I'm still not sure whether I invented this technique or scraplifted it from somewhere, but I love it either way.

I started this layout at a crop last month, but I just wasn't inspired, so I set it aside and moved on to other projects. I pulled it out last night and inspiration struck! I kept it very simple, but it was fun to make the little presents. The design is based on one of Becky Higgins' alternate sketches in October 2009 Creating Keepsakes.
