Ready to Get Wrecked Layout

I took a ton of photos of Vacation Bible School at our church in 2018, so prepare to be bombarded by layouts featuring the Shipwrecked theme! The first set I decided to scrapbook two photos of some of the decorations, and I placed the other photos in a photo storage page. My page is actually a lift of an amazing page Lis from Scrapbook.com created. I love how she tore map paper and then tucked all kinds of goodies under the edge, so I tried to replicate that look. Hopefully I did credit to her wonderful design! Looking at the page now, I wish I had moved the title over to the left of the framed photo, but it's glued down already, so I guess it stays.

Challenges: Unicorn Challenges #109 Mermaids - I found the cute mermaid silhouette on Cricut Design Space and though it would be a fun addition to the page; A Cut Above Anything Goes with a die-cut - mine are the sailboat, mermaid, frame, and title; Neglected Stuff Challenges - I pulled out 2 long-retired stamp sets to create the postcard and sloth, plus a bunch of old stickers that have been in my sticker binder for at least 15 years (shells, flowers, waves, ship's wheel, palm branch) and the journaling card from 2007.

Dear Friends, Let's Celebrate Layout for Lasting Memories #703

It's time for the final challenge of the month over at Lasting Memories, and this time I asked everyone to create a layout that was inspired by someone else's layout. There are so many talented scrappers out there, so it was hard to narrow it down, but I decided to lift fellow LM design team member Jill Rugg. I loved her adorable "Wish You Were Here" layout and pretty much CASEd (copy and steal everything) it! The hardest part was figuring out how to make the edges look like an airmail envelope, but I finally created a template in Cricut Design Space and used the openings as a guide to color the markings. I noticed after I was about halfway around the layout that they should have been flush with the edge of the paper, but I just kept going and decided I like how it looks. Capture the Moment Layout

Elliot's school holds a luau every year, and the year that they included the laser tag course was a huge hit for him. Since these pictures were taken at a luau and my son was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, I went with Hawaiian themed papers and embellishments instead of gun and camo. However, I wrapped some orange embroidery floss around one of the photos as a nod to the laser beams on real lasers, fortunately absent in this game!

LOAD #7 - Ticket to Ride

When I saw the pattern Ta-Da from Jeanette Lynton's book Magic, the small paper strips immediately reminded me of railroad ties, so I decided to make a railroad track for this train layout. I didn't have any train stamps to use on the layout, but I picked stamps that reminded me of train travel to create the title/journaling collage. Hope you like!

April LOAD #3 - The Great Christmas Adventure

Thought I would post this so Linda and Michelle can post their layouts if they are done. Today was a busy day, and I am almost out of pictures, so I spend the last hour figuring out what photos I need to get printed. Too bad Costco closes at 6pm on Saturday! I'll have to hope they are open on Easter Sunday so I can get more photos. I still need a title and journaling on today's layout, so I'll post it as soon as I'm done! ************* 10:45 and I finally finished. I didn't think a totally ink and paper layout would take so long to finish! Just want to share a fun technique I used on this, and then I'm going to bed. For the postcard stamp, I didn't have a suitable stamp image, so I had to get creative. I rolled the outside of a postage stamp stamp in Dutch Blue ink, taking care not to get any ink on the inside of the image (it was a maple leaf, so not suitable for this layout at all), and I stamped it in the corner of the postcard. I then used the angel stamp from "Holiday Hoopla" to stamp the inside of the stamp. Voila - an angel postage stamp!

Polynesian Cultural Center Layouts

I'm back with a few more Hawaii layouts, this time featuring pictures we took at the Polynesian Cultural Center. I used several pocket pages, which I usually don't show on my blog because they are just pictures, but I decided to post them this time since I actually did some decorative titles and journaling. In case you didn't already figure it out, the Canoe Pageant pocket page continues onto the Marquesas pocket page, with the two top photos belonging to the canoe pageant. Too many photos, not enough space! I especially like my Marquesas layout because I made my own background paper (the diamonds) using cardstock, an embossing stylus, and sandpaper. I have done staight lines before using this technique, but never a diamond pattern. It took a bit of work, but I really like how it came out.
