Happy Mother's Day 2016 Layout for Lasting Memories

Lasting Memories' third Wedding Tradition-themed challenge this month is "something borrowed," and the idea behind it is quite clever: scraplift a layout created by one of the Lasting Memories design team. I knew I wanted to scrapbook some Mother's Day pictures, so I found something that would fit my photo sizes and also that had a cute design. I did have to adapt it a little, since I had one too many photos. Using foam tape, I popped up my 5" x 5" photo to create a pocket to hold a 4" x 6" photo that I trimmed down and placed on a tag. It also gave me an additional spot to write journaling, so a win all around! Bee Birthday Card

I needed to make my hubby a birthday card but didn’t have a clue where to start, so I pulled inspiration from a couple of challenges that helped me decide on the bee theme and the tic tac toe board. I was in the car a lot today, so I used the time to dream about how I wanted the card to look, then I got home and was able to assemble it in an hour! The sketch from Sketch-n-Scrap really helped pull together the elements I wanted to include, and my hubby loved the finished product.

Four weeks after my daughter's roller skating party, we were back at the rink to use some free admission coupons. My hubby only snapped a couple of photos, but I wanted to be sure I scrapped the memory of my daughter with her bestie!

EMS Sketch Challenge 102 + Daddy's Duds Layout

I needed a design for these cute pictures of my kids trying on their dad's suit coat, so I whipped up a sketch featuring two uncropped 4" x 6" photos and lots of banners. This layout actually moved me a little out of my comfort zone with mixed media (used a spray pen and purple ink to mist the base cardstock under the vellum, and painted the wooden hearts white), some stitching (not my forte), and the very restrained color scheme, but I love how it turned out! Princess Party Layout for Lasting Memories

For their second May challenge, they asked us to use the "something new" portion of the wedding tradition. My final Universal Studios layout features a couple of miscellaneous photos that will face a pocket page with more miscellaneous photos. I wasn't sure how to accessorize this page, since I didn't have any Spongebob Squarepants stickers and my color printer wasn't working so I couldn't print out clip art from online, but I finally found a Spongebob SVG file and was able to use it in Cricut Design Space to create a die-cut. There were tons of tiny pieces, so I ended up deleting some of them and using markers to add details, otherwise I think I would have gone blind trying to piece everything together!

Back Lot Tour Layout for Lasting Memories

This month, I have the privilege of being a guest designer for Lasting Memories Challenge blog! The monthly theme is wedding inspiration challenges, so here's the first challenge, based on the "Something old" portion of the wedding tradition. First I pulled out an old sketch that I created for Splitcoast Stampers back in 2015 (see below) to go with photos from 2016. All of the products used on my layout are at least a year old, with the oldest being a piece of vellum (in the half circle window) that dates from 2001. Although it's not the oldest item in my stash - I still have some CM stickers and die-cut triangles from back when I started scrapbooking in 1998 - this piece of paper predates my oldest child, so it's pretty old! Check back every Sunday this month to see a new challenge, and hopefully you will play along.

The Simpsons Meet Jurassic Park Layout

For this Universal Studios layout, I needed to figure out how to combine Simpson and Jurassic Park photos, so I elected to use some cute dinosaur stamps along with a couple of the brighter colors from the Simpsons photos. I didn't need a big title area like the sketch called for, so I used that space to create a little dinosaur scene, and added a popsicle sticker to the T-rex's hand so the triceratops could breathe a sigh of relief that he wasn't going to be eaten . . . at least, not right away - LOL!

Welcome to Hogwarts Layout

My second Universal Studios layout features a few photos from the Wizard World of Harry Potter. I played along with the Scrap Our Stash Tic Tac Toe challenge to create this layout, starting with a sketch from Page Maps and adding several die-cuts and 3 photos. I also did lots of stamping and some fussy cutting to get just the look I wanted for the embellishments. Hope you all like it!

Universal Studios 2016 Layout

My husband treated my son and his best friend to Universal Studios for his 11th birthday and took a bunch of photos, so here's my first layout chronicling that adventure! I started with the April sketch challenge from Scrap Our Stash (see below) but I used larger photos and switched out two of the triangles for other shapes: the rocket flame and the collection of rectangles and a sticker that create a triangle arrangement.
